Candidates in the Denver/Boulder area preferred; open nationwide.  This position is home office based with approximately 25% travel per year.

Intent:

Mindful Health LLC, the shared services arm supporting the Organization’s network of product, fitness and related entities is seeking a Chief Operating Officer to provide strategic operational oversight and direction to our team, brands and vision.  The COO will be the second-in-command at Mindful Health and will have the skill sets and attributes that are complementary to the CEO. The COO will be responsible for the daily operation of the internal organization so the CEO can focus on broader business goals and long-term development and strategy.  This leader is capable of executing a vision and providing strategic planning to achieve these goals. The COO will provide hands-on direction to the core operational teams to implement the vision of the Organization. Responsible for all functional operating areas, the COO will establish and maintain an organizational structure that aligns with the Mindful Health mission. Leadership guided in fostering the long-term health of the organization is key; where transparent communication balanced with high emotional intelligence is required. This position has direct P&L responsibility for all organizational entities.

 

The CEO will continue managing the creative vision behind products & program creation, as well as oversee the marketing, social media and facebook teams.  The COO will manage operations that support these channels as well as accounting/finance, HR, customer service and technology.

Description & Influence:

  • Responsible for day-to-day leadership and driving the company to achieve and surpass sales, profitability, and business goals and objectives.

  • Continuously measure the effectiveness of all internal and external processes and provides timely, accurate and complete reports on the operating condition of the company and its related entities.

  • Spearhead the development, communication and implementation of effective operational growth strategies and processes.

  • Provide all operational oversight and support to individual leaders of Mindful Health-related entities.  

  • Work with CEO to implement growth strategies throughout the organization

  • Implement strategic vision as set by CEO by ensuring key operational areas are working collaboratively to achieve profitability and top-line growth.

  • Oversee daily operations of the company and the work of executives including:

    • Operations – Will have ownership all operations related initiatives to include systems, structure, and developing efficiencies at all levels of the organization to cut costs and drive profitability.  

    • Finance – Will manage and support the Finance team in forecasting and budgeting, cash flow management, KPI measurement, developing financial models, data analytics, and evaluation of financials to advise CEO on business decisions.

    • IT – Will manage and support the IT Director [TC1] in evaluating and implementing technology throughout the organization to improve operational efficiencies and support growth.

    • Customer Happiness – Will manage and support the Customer Happiness Director in developing efficiencies in the support department, continually reducing refunds and cancellations, and converting the department into a profit center.

    • HR– Will partner with the HR Director to develop a growth plan for scaling the organization, in addition to providing leadership training and coaching where needed in the organization.  Design complex compensation plans and incentives to ensure employee retention.

  • Motivate and lead a high performing leadership team as well as provide mentoring as a key element of the professional development of each team member.

  • Ability to advise and make recommendations to the CEO concerning budget, cost, and financial matters and encourages and directs leadership team in establishing a measure of performance, increased productivity, quality improvement, and cost controls.  

  • Ensure Mindful Health is effectively supporting the growth of related entities.

Background & Experience:

  • Proven experience as COO or relevant role in taking start-up companies from 7 or 8 figures to 9 figures and beyond.

  • MBA required with 7-10 years of progressive experience managing department leaders and high performers within multiple entities and brands.

  • Extensive experience in start-up and fast growth companies, ideally in the fitness, wellness, food/nutrition, product manufacturing, and/or green energy space.

  • Experience in online or direct response organizations in a virtual environment.

  • Must be proficient in the implementation of technology systems and processes.

  • Exceptional financial acumen; P&L oversight & management, budgets, and forecasts

  • Proven experience in operations, finance, and team leadership and development.  

  • M&A experience a plus.

  • Extensive customer service background.

  • Experience in product manufacturing is ideal.

  • Ability to inspire, motivate and develop a team.

  • High degree of self awareness and emotional intelligence

  • Must be able to balance strong analytics and timely decision making.

  • Proven experience growing product brands online and offline.

  • Passionate about, and committed to, healthy living, exercise, nutrition and overall wellness.

  • Possesses high degree of personal integrity with a strong work ethic who honors their commitments and always strives for excellence.
