As an Associate Lead Health Coach (Associate Pod Lead) at Virta), you’ll work directly with patients to help reverse metabolic disease while providing exceptional patient care to achieve transformational outcomes. Additionally,  you’ll lead a pod of coaches and support them in providing exceptional patient care while fostering career development.

Responsibilities in Patient Care 

  • Care directly for patients, utilizing our technology-enabled, continuous remote care platform 
  • Utilize a variety of communication styles and techniques to match patient’s coaching needs through virtual mediums including  text, phone, and video chat
  • Deliver recommendations for effective and sustainable carbohydrate restriction, personalized to patient’s preferences and individual metabolic goals 
  • Collaborate with the Virta medical staff in a detailed, timely, and effective manner
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Enrollment Advisors, Support Operations, and Product Teams to provide feedback and communicate coaching best practices.

Responsibilities in Management 

  • Manage a small team (pod) of Health Coaches and own the success of patients within the pod
  • Establish and maintain a high level of trust while fostering feedback and collaboration
  • Develop the individual skills and talents of the coaches in your pod and nurture individual career growth
  • Work effectively within the team and cross-collaboratively to execute and deliver on initiatives
  • Work closely with Clinical Pod Leads to deliver cross-functional impact

90 Day Plan

Within your first 90 days at Virta, we expect you will do the following:

  • Learn the science behind the Virta Treatment and how we deliver patient care
  • Partner with mentors to learn and adopt daily health coach workflow and documentation practices
  • Successfully deliver the Virta Treatment to new and tenured patients
  • Shadow current health coaches to learn best practices, foster relationships and contribute to our collaborative team culture 
  • Learn and understand the metrics that determine patient success
  • Learn and understand what key performance indicators are used to track health coach performance and how to support coaches in impacting  these metrics
  • Actively contribute to team culture through continuous learning, providing feedback, and making social connections with fellow Virtans 
  • Establish a foundation of trust, feedback, and collaboration with the coaches in your pod
  • Partner closely with Clinical Pod Leads to develop foundational management skills 
  • Take on direct reports
  • Contribute and suggest process improvements to processes and cross-functional initiatives to improve impact at scale

Must-Haves

  • Minimum of 1 year previous management experience, preferably within a clinical setting
  • 4-year college degree required in one of the following disciplines: Nutrition, Dietetics, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Social Work, Psychology, or other health-related field. 
  • Work 1-2 holidays per year and be on call for 1-2 weekends per year. 
  • Comfortable utilizing various web-based platforms and apps
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with the ability to utilize diverse modes of communication and effectively communicate via flat communication media (email, Slack, Google docs)

As part of your duties at Virta, you may come in contact with sensitive patient information that is governed by HIPAA. Throughout your career at Virta, you will be expected to follow Virta's security and privacy procedures to ensure our patients' information remains strictly confidential. Security and privacy training will be provided.

For this role the compensation range for candidates in Colorado is $63,000 - $72,000; information about Virta’s benefits is on our careers page at: https://www.virtahealth.com/careers. 

Note: Starting pay will be based on a number of factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience. Virta has a location based compensation structure; there may be a different range for candidates in other locations.
