Overview:

 

The VP, Global Brand & Communications reports directly to the CMO and is responsible for setting and executing on a comprehensive communications strategy that reinforces the company’s purpose, increases its global awareness and builds its reputation as the leader in data analytics software to drive business growth.  

 

The strategy you create will be built on dynamic storytelling and will leverage branding, creative, communications, media, influencers and analysts to move the Alteryx purpose, business and culture forward. To be successful in this role, you must be able to move seamlessly between strategy and execution and be exceptionally skilled in the whole-brained thinking, creative concepting, visual and verbal storytelling.  

 

As a leader on the Global Marketing team, your ability to define and thread communications initiatives through to integrated programs (paid, earned and organic) will be critical to the success of our broader marketing programs and campaigns. You must also demonstrate a high level of accountability to the team and the organization by consistently and clearly reporting (both qualitatively and quantitatively) on the impact, results and learning from your programs. 

 
To be effective in this leadership role, you need to have strong Marketing knowledge, be able to scale and operate globally, and demonstrate familiarity with modern marketing strategies that will drive Alteryx business and brand growth. You will oversee a high volume of projects with an agile approach and be able to guide your team through a fast-moving internal and external environment. Therefore, you must demonstrate excellent judgement, a sense of urgency, comfort with ambiguity and an ability to learn and process quickly. This leader sets the bar high for quality work on time and measuring outcomes, is comfortable making decisions, is collaborative and is direct in communications. 
 
Primary Responsibilities:
 
Work closely with Marketing, Corporate Strategy, Product and Alteryx Executives to develop clear plans and budgets, then lead the process to measure and communicate all outcomes globally.  

  • Design and implement a global approach for the Alteryx brand and communications strategy – including brand strategy and advertising, PR, media relations, analyst relations, creative services, social media and internal communications. 

  • Develop and maintain a strong collaborative relationship with Marketing leaders to ensure that strategy and brand messages are being successfully implemented globally across regions/markets and that key learnings and best practices are shared. 

  • Work cross-functionally to define and drive brand-level messaging architecture that will be deployed throughout integrated campaigns and organizational communications to promote the Alteryx brand and data analytics solutions. 

  • Manage internal communications strategy and execution – including company-wide meeting planning, regular company-wide digital communications, and collaboration with HR, Corporate Strategy, Executives and others on announcements and program communications. 

  • Lead the creative services team that serves as the Alteryx brand purpose and personality experts – ensuring a clear, efficient process for developing and delivering creative projects for Marketing and other business stakeholders. 

  • Create strong partnerships with agency providers for both PR and creative efforts. 

  • Build and scale the executive speakers bureau program. 

  • Develop a deep understanding of the data analytics category and market, including internal and external forces that will impact our strategy development and brand position.  

  • Collaborate with the CMO, CEO, President, CCO and other executive leaders to develop external communication strategies and presentations. 

  • Actively participate as a member of the Marketing Leadership Team to support departmental initiatives and build a high-performance culture.

  • People Leadership: Experience in recruiting top talent and managing, developing, and motivating high-performing teams (both direct and cross-functional). 

  • Strong Planning, Organization & Project Management: Attention to detail and ability to lay out tactics vs. timeline vs. strategy and recommend prioritization and changes to plan to optimize results. 

  • Master Juggler: Experience balancing numerous competing priorities and demands. 

  • Strong analytics background: Proven success in analytics for strong measurements and development of insights with clear so what's. Well versed in assessing and communicating marketing investment decisions. 

  • Effective Communicator: A track record of creating and effectively presenting to executives and peers. Ability to quickly develop compelling, high-quality analyses, content and presentations – and advise others how to do so. 

  • Flexibility & FocusAbility to create clarity in the midst of ambiguity & change – as well as to quickly recommend prioritization/reprioritization based on changing business needs or results gaps. Includes the ability to make recommendations with limited data, leveraging strong marketing/strategic experience and judgment. 

  • Positive Impact: Strong bias for action, with a team- and company-first lens and a mature, positive attitude. 

  • Ability To Influence: Can drive change and succeed in a highly matrixed organization, understand priorities, and manage multiple tracks of business.

Education, Skills & Experience:  

  • BA/BS degree – or analogous work experience – required 

  • Minimum 15-20+ years of relevant experience – with at least 10 years in fast-growing enterprise software companies (data analytics industry is an advantage, but not required) 

  • Leadership of both global teams and external agencies/partners 

  • Experience in high-growth, GTM-driven companies that align to strong quarterly cadences & processes to manage the business
