PRICING & MARGIN ANALYST
Pricing analysts work with complex data sets to help businesses determine and set competitive prices to gain market share and achieve revenue goals. This is a highly analytical role that requires the individual to consider data from multiple sources and develop complex pricing models that reflect margins for promotional and seasonal pricing based on competitor, market, and customer data.
This Role:
- Reports to the Director of Decision Support, Finance with a dotted line to designated Sales and Growth Departments
- Is responsible for analyzing competitor pricing matched with market expectations to determine the ideal target price for products/services of the business
- Is responsible for the overall pricing scenarios and modeling to support the leadership team in making go-to-market pricing and strategy decisions
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with the sales and marketing team to define pricing structure for company products/services
- Identify ideal pricing structures and sales funnels
- Perform competitor analysis on similar products and services
- Scope out opportunities based on market trends and industry condition
- Draft strategic pricing plans and scenario models
- Create reports reflecting business KPIs/metrics, and product level profitability
- Communicate findings effectively to relevant departments of the company
- Address issues and concerns raised by team members relating to pricing suggestions
Experience Requirements:
- Experience working as a pricing analyst in the same industry
- Strong knowledge about the industry including competitors and market trends
- Keen eye for identifying opportunity
- Strong analytical and research skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Good negotiations and problem-solving skills
- Effective reporting and presentation skills
- Enthusiastic and proactive team player
- Able to work with multiple data sources
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years with an Advertising Agency, Publisher, or Direct Marketer experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a field such as mathematics, statistics, or economics
- Advanced Excel power-user
- Knowledge of reporting and insights in Salesforce.com
- Experience with Dashboards and other visualization tools
- Working experience in the industry as a pricing analyst or in another relevant position dealing with competitor pricing and sales.
