Do you have experience in media buying and in leading a team? Do you have a passion for TV media? We are looking for an experienced Media Buyer to lead all TV, Radio and out-of-home buying for the HomeAdvisor and Angie’s List brands.

About the role:

As the Head of Media Buying, you will join a newly formed in-house agency. In this role, you'll help hire and lead a team of buyers who will work together to negotiate and execute large-scale, performance-focused buys. Working closely with senior leadership and a team of media planners and analysts, you will inform buy strategy through your insights into marketplace trends and opportunities. Using your relationships with stations and partners, you will work diligently to negotiate traditional upfront and scatter market buys to achieve our performance goals.

Additionally, you'll:

  • Negotiate and execute TV, Radio, and OOH buys across upfront and scatter media through your well-established relationships with vendors and a deep understanding of performance drivers.
  • Manage buys to weekly budgets, setting expectations about clearance and reacting as needed to ensure budgets are met each week. You will also reconcile actual delivery against expected numbers.
  • Work closely with media planners and analysts to understand performance, enabling smarter buying decisions at an individual station level.
  • Keep a pulse on marketplace trends, actively seeking and highlighting new opportunities to help achieve goals.
  • Mentor a Media Buying team by setting goals, outlining responsibilities, and ultimately helping them grow into best-in class media buyers.

About you:

You are a confident, high-energy, well-connected buyer, with experience negotiating and executing large scale upfront and scatter buys. You have a real passion for TV media, and you thrive on building relationships with internal and external teams, enjoy a dynamic, fast-moving environment, and are accustomed to buying and optimizing media for a performance-first advertiser.

Additional experience that is meaningful in this role:

  • 8+ years TV media buying experience for response/metrics-focused brands
  • Past success handling large media budgets with high performance expectations
  • Experience buying national direct response and upfront TV required; experience with radio and OOH buying preferred
  • Ability to plan, negotiate, and execute a buy to achieve performance goals, while balancing CPM, media length, daypart, and day of week distribution expectations
  • Fluency with media buying software, such as Media Ocean or Core Media, and a thorough understanding of trafficking and deadlines
  • A real passion for developing and maintaining deep relationships with stations
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage individual and team workload to ensure deadlines are met
  • A hardworking leader with experience guiding and motivating a team
  • Excellent analytical and verbal communication skills

Qualifications

Education

Preferred

Bachelors or better in Marketing or related field.

Experience

Required

8 years: TV media buying experience for response/metrics-focused brands

Past success handling large media budgets with high performance expectations

Experience buying national direct response and upfront TV required; experience with radio and OOH buying preferred

Ability to plan, negotiate, and execute a buy to achieve performance goals, while balancing CPM, media length, daypart, and day of week distribution expectations
