Apartment List is an online rental marketplace on a mission to ensure every renter finds a home they love and the value they deserve. Our Communications team crafts world-class content, research, and storytelling to expand our audience and help renters along their journey. As we prepare for the next wave of growth, we are hiring a Director of Communications to design and execute the next chapter of our public relations strategy.

Here’s what you’ll do as part of the team:

• Design and lead our media relations roadmap to make Apartment List known for the right reasons by the right people.
• Craft compelling narratives and public relations campaigns around product launches, business milestones, executive perspectives, and real estate research.
• Create innovative communications programs to drive brand health and renter traffic.
• Promote campaigns to further improve our relationships with suppliers.
• Work with our HR team to refine and promote the employee brand internally and externally.
• Develop and strengthen meaningful relationships with media outlets to amplify the storylines our stakeholders care about.
• Drive impactful cross-functional collaboration between PR, Marketing, Research, SEO, and Product.
• Serve as a company spokesperson, while coaching executives and researchers representing the company in the press.
• Quantify the impact of the communications program to enable efficient resourcing across efforts and campaigns.
• Pinpoint and prototype new opportunities for the communications team to deliver value for Apartment List.

• Experience leading transformational communications campaigns that target a wide range of audiences.
• Exceptional story telling ability and an innate understanding of what will be a compelling campaign.
• Deep understanding of how to scale teams and processes at a technology company, and the excitement to scale public relations for a successful product and brand.
• Success navigating under pressure, managing competing priorities and challenging narratives.
• Creativity to grow a program and build a new muscle for the company.
• Ability to quantify and communicate impact of communications to executives and cross-functional stakeholders, creating and clarifying the business impact of the team.
• Extraordinary writing and strong interview skills.
• Entrepreneurial attitude that proactively drives change in a rapidly evolving environment.
• Strong track record of mentoring and growing teams and managing agencies.
• Tenure at a public company is a plus.
