So now that you know who we are at The Ascent, let’s talk about you.

The Ascent team is looking for a Senior Performance Marketing Manager with a passion for results, a commitment to data-driven decision-making, and a relentless focus on connecting to the customer. In this role, you are responsible for owning all elements of the acquisition journey via paid ad placements. This journey includes customer interaction with these ads, their complete site experience, and ultimately leaving our site to learn more about a partner’s product.

How will you be successful in this journey?  By identifying and scaling cost-effective customer acquisition campaigns across a number of new and established paid channels. You will develop the strategic plan, use analytics to inform decisions, and manage a significant marketing budget to achieve company goals. To be successful in this role, you must be highly innovative and comfortable driving campaigns from conception through execution in a fast-paced environment.  Most importantly, you are an ego-free and entrepreneurial self-starter looking to ‘roll up your sleeves” and join a high-growth operation.

Responsibilities

  • Own highly visible customer acquisition campaigns including responsibility for headlines and landing pages, scheduling and testing.
  • Measure and analyzing performance, and identify new opportunities based on customer and business data.
  • Develop marketing plans for various content marketing channels. Paid media may include display ads, search, native, and social media channels.
  • Assess new advertising opportunities.
  • Implement and continually test new creative messaging, landing pages, campaigns, and tools.
  • Drive rapid but well-structured campaign testing designed to validate the potential of elected channels.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years’ experience in a performance marketing role, preferably in the personal finance space
  • Strong understanding of online marketing channels such as social media marketing, display advertising, search engine marketing, and native advertising.
  • Experience with many of the large ad platforms: Facebook, Google Adwords and GDN, Bing, Yahoo Gemini, Taboola, Outbrain, Dianomi, Criteo, etc.
  • Well versed in direct response marketing principles and methodologies.
  • Proven track record of successful online marketing campaigns and experiments- owning campaign performance and adjusting tactics to meet objectives and budgets.
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills, a passion for metrics and quantitative analysis, ability to turn analysis into actionable programs, and ability to use data to optimize day-to-day performance.
  • Relentless drive to beat the control.
  • Ability to bridge data analysis, research, competitive intelligence, and marketing savvy to build efficient and scalable customer acquisition programs.
  • Experience running your own P&L, having owned marketing budgets and revenue goals of significant scale.
  • Must be highly driven with a customer-centric attitude and the ability to work entrepreneurially on a small team.
