Corporate Communications Director

Position Description
The Director of Corporate Communications is responsible for developing and executing the company’s corporate communications strategy. Works closely with business stakeholders on internal and external communications plans, developing key messaging, tactics and measurement. At the direction of Zayo’s senior leadership, develop external communications positively position and differentiate the Zayo brand, network and solutions with customers and key stakeholders. Working collaboratively with People Operations and other groups, Internal communications inform, educate and engage employees across Zayo’s global business.
Responsibilities
Develops external communications to positively position and differentiate the Zayo brand, network and solutions collaborating with the team VP, Brand and business partners.
Creates and edits compelling communications for multiple media, including announcements, online articles, press releases, blogs, videos, briefings, talking points and presentations.
Researches, drafts and posts press releases, media pitches and briefings consistent with these strategies to ensure a steady cadence of positive news
Maintains relationships with key reporters (national, local and trade); proactively pitch reporters on news and announcements.
Respond to inquiries from media, with statements or engaging the appropriate, trained Zayo spokespeople, prepared with comprehensive briefings.
Develop and track key placement and awareness metrics.
Supports executive communications, community relations and other externally oriented events, with thought leadership and speaker support.
Develops and executes internal communications plan to support Zayo’s strategy, brand, initiatives and successes.
Works collaboratively to foster a positive global culture and strong employee engagement.
Drafts key messaging and narrative, aligned with business objectives and initiatives.
Counsels/partners with key stakeholders in People Ops and other organizations on internal campaigns.
Manages Zayo’s digital signage initiative across its 6-city with content that supports business strategy and the Zayo culture. Works closely with European communications lead, Brand leads, local content leads, People Ops and IT. Process includes research, drafting, graphics and posting via a third-party signage system.
Manages content for Zayo Headlines, the company’s Salesforce-based platform for internal news, announcements and features, with a focus on customer wins and best practices.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English or related field
Demonstrated ability to create clear, compelling communications content for multiple media. Samples required.
Knowledge of journalistic structure, voice and conventions, including AP style
7-10 years of experience in corporate communications, including direct experience in both external and internal communication.
Ability to develop relationships across all levels of the organization and multiple geographies.
Self-starter, with ability to take initiative in fast-paced environment amidst shifting priorities.
