Corporate Communications Director
Responsibilities:
- Lead Zayo’s global communications strategy, partnering closely with regional management and functional teams globally to drive corporate brand awareness.
- Deliver strategy, planning, and execution that secures media interest, drives increased brand awareness, maintains consistent conversation, and drives traffic back to Zayo digital properties
- Develop and implement strategies to communicate company news and information related to the company’s culture and mission, corporate milestones, and new product and partner initiatives to external audiences
- Manage a wide range of high-pressure crisis scenarios and issues
- Collaborate with senior leadership to drive external communication objectives and programs designed to strategically position Zayo with all relevant stakeholders
- Serve as a trusted advisor and provide strategic external communications counsel to senior leadership
- Work closely with Zayo’s CFO and Investor Relations lead to ensure lockstep communications
- Collaborate with Zayo’s internal communications function alongside our People & Culture Team, helping to effectively communicate and reinforce corporate strategy
- Build and motivate collaborative high-performing team of communications professionals
- Manage external PR agency resources
- Serve as a key media contact and cultivate relationships with business, trade, national, and local media
- Prepare spokespeople and local leaders for media interviews and speaking engagements by providing refresher media training as appropriate. Facilitate and coordinate media training for spokespeople when required
- Manage and track the global communications budget, ensuring that funds are used to reach goals
- Reports to the Chief Marketing Officer
Minimum Qualifications:
- 10+ years building and optimizing communications programs across technology/B2B, corporate and product
- Bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, journalism, English, or related business field; advanced degrees preferred
- Experience advising senior leadership and executives in messaging and communication strategies
- Ability to handle multiple time-sensitive projects and thrive in a fast-paced, transformation-oriented environment
- Strong persuasion skills and able to gain consensus through influence
- Track record of leading and executing a comprehensive strategic global communications program
- Ability to work in a matrixed organization with a virtual team
- Skilled written and verbal communicator
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in a highly complex B2B industry
- Experience in large company a plus
- Experience managing a team a plus
- Base salary in CO: $96,200 - $128,250
