Job Duties and Responsibilities
We are seeking a Brand Manager, covering Sports and Partnerships, with a strong background in fundamental marketing strategy, go-to-market planning, and experience working with pro and college sports teams. This person will manage strategic brand campaigns promoting Sling TV's sports channels and live tune-in opportunities. As the fastest growing industry in TV, this person will be on the cutting edge, working to bring people into the Sling ecosystem through sports and then keep them through flexible service options; including our free service and upsell opportunities. The ideal candidate will have experience in working with both pro and college sports, negotiating sports sponsorships, and experience creating consumer driven, strategic partnership and experiential 360 degree activations.
They will thrive in ambiguity, managing a team responsible for developing campaign positioning and messaging based on a deep understanding of the customer, competition, and company capabilities - rooted in data and insights. This person will use their expertise to translate consumer insights into briefs and projects that allow space for creative ideation to flourish in service of the overarching brand and business goals.
Specific Job Duties and Responsibilities of the Brand Manager:
- Define the target audience(s) for new sports marketing driven campaigns and products - informed by primary & secondary research, behavioral data, and competition
- Research and synthesize significant amounts of information, and develop influential storylines and presentations (e.g. partnership valuations, strategic plans, market landscapes, partnership point of view reports, etc.)
- Monitor and analyze ongoing partnerships and sponsorships market trends
- Create valuation and measurement models to show return on investment for partnerships, sponsorships, and experiential marketing
- Translate the data trends into key insights and strategic recommendations
- Manage and negotiate partnership and sponsorship deals
- Own positioning & messaging for new initiatives (naming, key RTBs, key visual assets
- Develop thoughtful, detailed briefs (often in collaboration with cross-functional partners) and lead tactical execution of marketing campaigns
- Work closely with a range of cross-functional stakeholders across growth, product, e-commerce, PR, social, and creative to develop go-to-market strategy plans and execute launches of new campaigns for prospects and customers
- Partner with creative agencies to craft brilliant & hard working communications that drive business results
- Manage and prioritize a workload of multiple projects with a variety of stakeholders from concept to completion
Skills, Experience and Requirements
Skills of the Sports & Partnerships Brand Manager:
- Brand Manager, Sports Marketing Manager, ad-agency account service/strategy, or consultant experience
- Experience working with pro and college sports players and/or teams
- Negotiated large partnership and sponsorship deals
- Entrepreneurial mindset, self-starter able to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, balancing multiple projects simultaneously
- Track record of building (new) brands and managing campaigns and product launches
- Experience in building strategic experiential marketing plans
- History of maximizing co-marketing funds
- Strong analytical skills, you will constantly need to parse diverse data sets to reach insights and drive business action
- Understanding of campaign measurement and underlying metrics, able to speak the language of channel owners and marketing analytics to iterate to success
- Experience navigating a complex organization, getting buy-in from executives while maintaining relationships with colleagues for execution
- Skilled at managing and mentoring direct reports
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, MBA preferred; or combination of education and relevant work experience; 8+ years of experience in marketing or marketing-related field
Salary Range
Compensation: $87,500.00/Year - $125,000.00/Year
