Zoom is looking for a Sr. Counsel, Patent Analysis. In this role, you will apply your skills in patent analysis (infringement / validity / claim charting) and patent transactions to inform decisions and drive initiatives in the areas of patent acquisitions, patent licensing, patent litigation, and strategic patent prosecution.
In this role, you will:
Identify patents relevant to particular technology areas
Analyze patents to determine infringement, validity, quality, and valuation
Develop/review claim charts to inform decisions in the areas of patent acquisitions, licensing, litigation, and prosecution
Prepare presentation decks to summarize results and to provide clear & concise business recommendations
Monitor competitive products
Create patent landscapes
Produce patent analytics
Clearly explain complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences
Negotiate and draft patent license, acquisition, and settlement agreements
Requirements:
Registered patent attorney with JD from a top-tier law school
Law degree and deep experience in computer software & software patents
8+ years of patent experience, including expertise across infringement / validity analysis and patent transactions (licensing and acquisitions)
Both law firm and in-house experience
Detail-oriented and analytical
Comfortable having a fast-moving and heavy workload, with constantly changing priorities
Able to work autonomously to manage matters from start to finish
Comfortable with distributed work environments, collaborating across time zones and cultures
Team-first attitude
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Strong organizational and process-development skills
Preferred:
Expertise in patent analytics and relevant tools
Deep experience in patent litigation and patent preparation/prosecution
Strong presentation and PowerPoint skills
Knowledge of videoconferencing, corporate chat, cloud phone, audio, and video technologies; knowledge of relevant codecs and standards
