This role sits within “Corporate Functions”. The engine of Funding Circle - we keep the business running. Whatever the discipline, we turn dreams into reality and help small businesses to win.
What will you be doing?
We are looking for an experienced Commercial Counsel to manage, negotiate and execute commercial transactions and who has commercial lending, data privacy and financial regulatory experience. Working closely with internal stakeholders and external partners, the Commercial Counsel will be responsible for the review, negotiation, drafting and execution of a variety of complex commercial transactions which will include commercial lending, technology, and marketing agreements. The ideal candidate is business-focused and can appropriately balance business needs and legal considerations in a fast paced environment. The candidate should also be comfortable with close collaboration with internal legal and non-legal stakeholders, be a problem-solver, and have a positive can-do outlook.
- Drafting, reviewing, revising, and negotiating commercial lending strategic partnership agreements, marketing agreements, technology agreements, and other revenue generating agreements.
- Legal compliance with relevant data privacy, state and federal financial regulations, and commercial lending licensing requirements.
- Collaborate closely with sales, compliance, finance and product teams in connection with commercial transactions and contracts.
- Assist in the development and implementation of processes for efficient operations regarding relevant commercial transactions.
Are you?
- 5+ years relevant experience in-house in a fast-paced company involving financial or technology products.
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills along with strong risk mitigation and business judgment.
- Familiarity with US and EU data protection and privacy laws.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with others.
- Ability to clearly concisely communicate with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels of the company.
- Ability to be resourceful and be willing to expand beyond your primary work responsibilities to assist on other legal matters as they arise and as is needed.
- Strong organizational skill and attention to detail.
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) and admission in good standing to one state bar or equivalent.
