Job Description
We are looking to hire a Government Relations Specialist to join our centralized team located in Denver Tech Center.
Responsibilities:
- Works with senior management to develop and drive AIR’s federal, state and local government relations, community engagement and mission driven strategy
- Analyzes the external environment to anticipate trends in government and policy actions that could impact the company and its business lines
- Researches content and drafts, edits and fact-checks written materials used for internal and external audiences including briefing memos for management, summaries of legislative or regulatory developments, agendas and periodic updates on government relations issues for senior leaders
- Works with site teams to assist with solving problems at our communities that have a municipal or regulatory solution.
- Supports the development, coordination, execution and oversight of the company’s federal, state and local government relations, community engagement and mission driven investment strategy
- Fosters productive relationships between AIR and governmental bodies by organizing briefings, meetings and other interactions in furtherance of opportunities for collaboration in delivering housing opportunities across markets
- Researches, analyzes and tracks federal, state and local legislation that may impact the company.
- Coordinates with peers across the organization including operations, public affairs and corporate responsibility to advance shared objectives
- Represents AIR in relevant hearings, meetings, and conferences
- Builds relationships with community and neighborhood groups to position AIR as a strategic partner and outstanding corporate citizen

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Government Relations, Journalism, Communications or other relevant field
- 3-5 years of relevant experience with 2+ years of experience working in government, with government agencies, legislative bodies at local, state or federal level or at non-profit institutions with a focus on advocacy
- Experience in housing finance, economic development, real estate, investment or policy analysis is preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Robust interpersonal skills, work with little supervision and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize assignments, deal with interruptions, and meet deadlines in a fast paced and growth oriented environment
- Ability to quickly learn new issues impacting the business and then to move fast to contribute to the creation of a successful government and public affairs strategy to address them
- Ability to travel 10% - 25% of the time

- Expected pay rate of $65,000 - $75,000. You will be provided a pay rate that is in line with your skills and experience as they relate to the requirements of the job.
