Eligibility
The Zayo internship program is open to graduating seniors and current students. All internships are paid, full-time work experiences. All internships are from June 3* - August 9, 2019 (*start date flexible to academic obligations).
Position Description
The Technical Project Manager Intern will coordinate tracking roadmap items, priorities, design, implementation, execution, control and completion of specific projects ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments and goals to improve customer experience within Tranzact. Tranzact is a portal that guides Zayo customers through product selection and service ordering, enabling Zayo customers to obtain competitive real-time price quotes, place orders, view service inventory and view pending transactions for Zayo’s suite of products including Ethernet, IP, Wavelengths, Dark Fiber and Private Line services.
Responsibilities
Build and execute technical projects such as automation, API QA, data analysis, predictive models
Test applications to identify weaknesses and propose business and development case improvements
Present business case for enhancements, optimizations, and inefficiencies
Ability to communicate with both development and business teams
Drive and facilitate project progress and ensure project priority is clearly understood and reflected at all times
Project justification / scoring includes support via either data analytics or specific use case/customer story (ideally both).
Ensures broad endorsement / adoption of all initiatives
Define development processes in line with effortless / agile / lean methodologies
Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
Frequently monitor progress and status of projects and report high-level overviews to upper management act as point of escalation with management
Establish and maintain trusting relationships with point product stakeholders
Understand team ecosystem, projects, and workload to define appropriate prioritization of tasks
Identify key technical and business contributors as project leads to drive progress
Quality assurance / Testing / Training
Qualifications
Studying/degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Information Technology, Data Analytics/Big Data, or Business with a technical emphasis
Node.JS, Javascript, or Python preferred
RESTAPIs framework working knowledge is a plus
Highly skilled communicator - written and verbal, able to breakdown technical jargon and communicate with the IT team and business stakeholders
Able to build a project plan including business case, timeline and phased approach for completion.
Proficient with MS office, especially PowerPoint and Excel, GITlab, and project management tools
Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills
Understanding of delegation with the ability to provide logical guidance in a fast paced and quickly changing environment
Must be able to take responsibility for teaching self and asking thoughtful questions of management
