The Ball Aerospace Internship Program is a 10-week summer program that provides interns with practical experience working on relevant projects while working with designated mentors; access to state-of-the-art equipment; a competitive wage; relocation reimbursement; in-house training; group activities; possible future employment and the ability to participate in the Ball Aerospace Remote Sensing Team (BIRST) program to build and launch a rocket or high-altitude balloon. At the conclusion of your internship, you will be required to prepare and deliver a formal presentation of your project work to your respective department.
Technical Intern – TS Systems/Test
Support systems engineering and integration & test tasks associated with the development of tactical solutions flight systems and sub systems and/or the development, qualification, and acceptance testing efforts of electro-optical or RF antenna-based tactical systems and subsystems. Our mission is to support the war fighter.
What You’ll Do:
- Work in a team environment assisting Systems Engineers on tasks throughout the lifecycle of tactical programs or R&D projects.
- Understand and refine requirements for: low observable conformal antennas, phased array antennas, or electro optical systems.
- Provide analyses in the form of released documents for the same systems. Manage system interfaces.
- Support program gates such as the preliminary design review and critical design review
- Subject matter expertise is Electronic Warfare systems and analysis
- Work in a team environment assisting System Integration & Test Engineers throughout the lifecycle of tactical programs or R&D projects.
- Develop, plan, and execute qualification tests for: low observable conformal antennas, phased array antennas, or electro optical systems.
- Perform data analyses and develop test reports.
- Interface with systems engineering on requirements flow down.
- Support program gates such as the preliminary design review and critical design review
- Participate in the development and presentation of Test Readiness Reviews (TRR).
- Work on airborne optical or RF antenna-based systems that support the war fighter.
- Support the development, test and evaluation of hardware, software, support equipment and systems as required.
- Opportunity to participate in the "Ball Intern Remote Sensing Team" (BIRST), working with other interns and Ball employees on an interdisciplinary concept-to-launch project experience, where you get to design, build, test, and launch a payload.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Support Units, and the Company. Interact appropriately with others to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
What You’ll Need:
- Must have completed your sophomore or junior year and be enrolled in a degree program for the fall of 2022. We will also accept students enrolled in a post graduate program.
- Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
- Degree program must be in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, Engineering Physics, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and teamwork are a must.
- Experience with Microsoft Office tools.
- Strong technical writing experience.
- A “Big Picture” mentality.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- A strong interest in learning.
- A desire to understand how changes in one area impact everything else on the project.

Compensation & Benefits:
- HIRING SALARY RANGE: $19.30 - $27.50 per hour (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
