Technical Intern – Systems Integration & Test

At Ball Aerospace, Systems and Test Engineers work to ensure the technical success of the entire system. Systems Engineers verify not only that the components function on their own, but also when integrated together. They are involved in every stage of the product lifecycle, from the conception of tomorrow’s cutting-edge technologies to proposal writing, detailed design, assembly and test, and finally launch and operations. Integration and Test Engineers work alongside the Systems Engineers planning for the building and testing of hardware by writing test procedures and verification plans. Once tests are planned and hardware is built, they execute the tests ensuring hardware safety then analyze the data ensuring the hardware is performing as expected and the test data supports the requirements of the system. While systems and test engineering can be done separately we value the combination of the two together giving new employees the ability to do both systems and test engineering, giving them a stronger foundation of skills that will make you a more successful and valuable engineer as you move forward in your career. The Systems Engineering Integration and Test departments are looking for college undergraduates and graduate students who can accomplish diverse technical assignments and the communication skills to interact with technical experts, government customers, and other commercial space companies. Our past interns have supported development of advanced star trackers, written NASA proposals for new missions, assessed the health and performance of on-orbit satellites, helped design next-generation spacecraft and their payloads, created test procedures, participated in the testing of flight hardware and analyzed data from tests to ensure the hardware or system is working as designed.
