Eligibility
The Zayo internship program is open to graduating seniors and current students. All internships are paid, full-time work experiences. All internships are from June 3* - August 9, 2019 (*start date flexible to academic obligations).
Position Description
The SQL Developer Intern will primarily be responsible for creating SQL queries, tables, and procedures based on requirements collected from the business by the Business Intelligence analysts, thereby enabling Zayo to make impactful insights. The intern should have an understanding of ETL protocol, specifically Cast Iron, and able to support the movement of data via such protocols to where the data can be best utilized. An effective intern will work well in a collaborative team environment and be willing to ask questions and interact with large or small teams of individuals.
Responsibilities
Responsible for designing, coding, and implementing database solutions using modern techniques and programming languages, including table design, stored procedures, and overall best practice methodologies.
Work harmoniously in a cross-functional team to ensure the delivery of software solutions as planned
Design database schema based on data modeling of business requirements and entities
Create, modify, read and understand stored procedures
Create, modify and troubleshoot SQL jobs
Develop, optimize and execute complex SQL queries from diverse data sets
Perform code reviews, analyzing execution plans, and refactoring inefficient code
Diagnose, triage and correct, MS SQL Server deficiencies, including, but not limited to, performance, misconfigurations, and incorrect data structures
Collect and review database performance metrics and proactively address performance concerns
Work closely with Analytics teams and provide technical expertise where needed
Completes documentation on all assigned systems and databases, including business rules, logic, and processes
Qualifications
Studying/degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems or related
Proficient in SQL including stored procedures
Experience with JSON, XML, ETL, data warehouse architecture
Salesforce and Einstein Analytics experience a plus
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and leadership skills
Excellent organizational and time-management skills
