Eligibility
The Zayo internship program is open to graduating seniors and current students. All internships are paid, full-time work experiences. All internships are from June 3* - August 9, 2019 (*start date flexible to academic obligations).
Position Description
Zayo has an exciting opening for a highly motivated and quick learning Network Engineer Intern to assist with and gain experience in many areas of engineering as part a Tier 1 service provider. This individual will assist with gathering engineering information, creating/updating designs, equipment logistics, and dispatching field engineers with a detailed statement of work in order to support the growing volume of large E-Rate Private Networks.
Responsibilities
Project Engineering: Engineer is responsible for managing and completing projects as assigned in a timely manner. Majority of projects will be related to new service engineering, but special projects may include network audits, network configuration/inventory verification, creation of network tools & reports, and other projects as assigned.
Network Documentation: Engineer will be responsible for creating and updating network documentation and drawings. Candidate should have strong Visio and written skills.
Deployable Hardware Logistics: Coordinate moving deployable equipment between markets and maintain accurate stocking levels. Replenish inventory as stocking levels pass thresholds to ensure equipment availability for growth of production network.
Qualifications
Studying/degree in IT, Computer Science, Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or related
Possess working knowledge of Layer 2 and Layer3 networking including STP, G.8032, MPLS/VPLS, IP Routing, BGP, and VLANs is ideal
Strong understanding of Microsoft Office and Visio
Flexibility and great organization skills are a must.
Knowledge of the MEF service specifications and terminology is a plus
