Please review the job details below.
Internship within the Geospatial Big Data Solutions Team
Develop automated methods for identifying potential quality issues/defects in a variety of raster and/or vector products (e.g., Land Use/Land Cover, Digital Surface Model, Digital Elevation Model, Building Footprints) using open-source geospatial tools (Python, GDAL/OGR, Postgres/PostGIS, etc.).
Potential examples include: identifying misclassifications of land cover along edges of imagery, finding geometric artifacts in elevation models, or identifying missing building footprints over large regions. Once methods have been developed, deploy tools as GBDX Tasks using Docker and collaborate with senior engineers to integrate them into a larger automated processing architecture.
Completing this project will require a combination of creative problem solving, a strong background in geospatial analysis, and technical strength in Python and/or SQL and will provide an opportunity to gain new skills in AWS, Docker, and GBDX as well as limited experience with client interaction.
Requirements:
- Current student status, pursuing an accredited degree
- Experience in Python coding
- Experience in geospatial analysis
- US Citizen or Permanent Resident
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong communication skills
- Desire to learn new technologies quickly
- Good collaboration skills
