Data Science Intern, Genomics

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Data Science Intern will join our Oncology Diagnostics Program and develop a deep understanding of complex and varied datasets associated with our platform. The intern will gain first-hand experience wrangling, preparing, and troubleshooting data vital to our diagnostic development. In addition, he/she will work on novel analyses using data science practices to generate insights from our rich data troves. This person will interface with data scientists, biostatisticians, data managers, and assay development scientists.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Job duties will involve a variety of activities including any of the following:
- Data wrangling using scripting
- Coding duties to improve existing data processing pipelines
- Curate data to facilitate analysis
- Analyze data to tackle research questions
- Present and communicate research findings to a cross-functional team
- Additional duties as assigned
EXPERIENCE:
- Demonstrated experience using data science approaches
- Proficient in scripting languages (R and/or Python)
- Understanding of genomics
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work with scientists and collaborators

EDUCATION:
- Coursework in mathematics, life science, genomics, bioinformatics, and data science are preferred
Expected Pay Rate in Colorado from: $15/hr
Time: May through August 2021
Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate’s geographic location, qualifications, skills, competencies and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.
