As the Instructional Designer, you will create clear, engaging learning experiences that help AHEAD employees build skills and perform at their best. You’ll be a key member of AHEAD’s Talent Development team, working closely with a Talent Development Partner, business stakeholders, and subject matter experts (SMEs) to turn learning needs into practical, engaging solutions. We’re looking for someone who brings strong instructional design skills, curiosity, and the ability to create polished learning content in a fast-moving, collaborative environment.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Partner with the Talent Development Partner to understand the learning need, audience, goals, and recommended approach.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and SMEs to define clear learning objectives, success criteria, desired outcomes, and content requirements.
- Assess existing learning materials and resources to determine their effectiveness and relevance.
- Translate learning objectives to design and develop engaging learning experiences using adult learning principles and evidence-based design.
- Create storyboards, scripts, outlines, and visual concepts that guide development.
- Simplify complex topics into concise, practical content supported by real-world examples to make learning practical and easy to apply.
- Build learning experiences using digital authoring (Articulate Rise, Storyline) and basic multimedia tools.
- Develop eLearning modules, videos, job aids, facilitator guides, and assessments.
- Ensure learning materials are accessible, inclusive, and easy to navigate.
- Test learning materials, incorporate SME feedback, and prepare solutions for LMS deployment.
- Partner with the Senior LMS Administrator to prepare and deploy learning solutions in Cornerstone.
- Use modern tools, including AI, to support drafting, prototyping, and enhancing learning content.
- Conduct user testing and basic configuration to ensure a smooth learner experience.
- Gather learner feedback and usage data to assess effectiveness.
- Monitor the performance of learning solutions and make updates as needed.
- Stay current on instructional design trends and emerging learning technologies.
- Contribute content and design support for onboarding, role-specific training, and other enterprise learning programs.
- Apply shared templates, brand standards, and quality checks to ensure consistent, “client-ready” deliverables.
- Collaborate with SMEs, stakeholders, and cross-functional partners throughout the design and development process.
- Support the Talent Development team with special projects as needed.
- Manage multiple design projects and timelines in a fast-paced, agile environment.
- Communicate progress, risks, and needs to the Talent Development Partner and stakeholders.
- Deliver high-quality work on schedule while balancing shifting priorities.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience in instructional design and corporate learning, with a portfolio of digital learning work.
- Experience using modern authoring tools (preferably Articulate Rise or Storyline, or equivalent) and basic multimedia tools (such as Camtasia, SnagIt, Canva, Loom, or similar).
- Strong understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design methods, and inclusive/accessibility best practices.
- Ability to translate complex information into clear, simple, and engaging learning materials.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, including working effectively with SMEs and cross- functional stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfort using AI and modern design tools to support drafting, prototyping, and content enhancement.
- Ability to rapidly learn new subject areas and design for a range of functions (such as engineering, consulting, sales, and operations).
- Familiarity with learning management systems (such as Cornerstone) and comfort preparing content for LMS deployment.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality, clarity, and learner experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Adult Learning, or a related field — or equivalent professional experience.

The compensation range indicated in this posting reflects the On-Target Earnings (“OTE”) for this role, which includes a base salary and any applicable target bonus amount. This OTE range may vary based on the candidate’s relevant experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
