The Position

We are seeking a VP of People Operations to join our team and help us achieve our ambitious goals for our business and the planet.
What you get to do:
This critical leadership position will report directly to the Chief People Officer and manage a team of HR professionals. You will build and lead Uplight's People Operations team as we scale to support significant organizational growth. This includes leading our global core people processes, compensation and benefits, compliance, HR systems and analytics, and workplace operations in a way that reflects and supports Uplight's needs and values.
This role will ideally be located in Colorado, with the ability to work in our Boulder, CO office a couple of days a week when feasible (we are hybrid, and our team supports employees throughout the US and internationally.)
Responsibilities Include:
Leadership

  • Lead, manage, and develop the People Operations team
  • Be a critical member of the People Leadership team to drive a unified people strategy and deliver on key business initiatives and outcomes
  • Foster strong cross-functional collaboration with all stakeholders (e.g., FP&A, Accounting, Legal, etc.) in a way that both mitigates risk for Uplight and upholds our values and culture.


Policies and compliance

  • Ensure that all policies, procedures, systems, and teams are compliant and able to scale to support our growing international presence. Requires maintaining and applying knowledge of laws, regulations, and best practices in employment law.
  • Create onboarding plans and educate newly hired employees on HR policies, internal procedures, and regulations
  • Stay on top of current trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, and employment law.
  • Assist with Employee Relations as needed


Total Rewards

  • Set the strategy and implement progressive and competitive compensation and benefits offerings to support employee physical, mental, and financial wellness.
  • Be a subject matter expert in compensation including compensation structure, market analysis, job leveling, variable compensation, equity plans, etc.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on all Total Rewards and onboarding-related matters for M&A transactions.


HRIS & Data

  • Own and oversee the HR tech stack; optimize systems and tools and help them integrate to maximize efficiency and data integrity across platforms.
  • Produce, maintain and use people analytics data to develop insights and recommendations.
  • Maintain digital employee records (documents, benefits, attendance, etc.) within our HRIS.


Workplace Operations

  • Ensure the safety and functionality of Uplight's offices.
  • Optimize Uplight's spaces in a way that supports positive employee experience, collaboration, community, and culture.


What you bring to Uplight:

  • Proven experience leading, managing, and scaling a global People Operations function.
  • Experience in M&A Integration.
  • Strong expertise in employment law as it relates to People Operations.
  • A bias for action and the ability to create and improve processes.
  • Strong business acumen, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • High integrity and alignment with Uplight's mission and values.
  • Demonstrated project management skills and a track record of success in bringing highly complex and cross-functional projects to completion.
  • Well-honed interpersonal and relationship-building skills that facilitate strong relationships and achieve results.
  • Deep analytics expertise; you use data to drive decisions and policy-making as well as to define business impact and team success.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience driving change.
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguity and be a strong self-starter.
  • Being a trusted advisor who inspires confidence in others through the depth of expertise, rigorous thinking, and sound judgment.

Salary Range: $170,000 to $230,000
In accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the approximate annual base compensation range is listed above. The actual offer, reflecting the total compensation package and benefits, will be determined by a number of factors including the applicant's experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity among our team.

Our Boulder office has plenty of nearby restaurants, bars and hotels for our visiting employees, as well as in office employees to enjoy. We have on-site parking, and when you enjoy a walk near the office - you can take in the views of the Beautiful Boulder FlatIron Mountains nearby - Enjoy!
