Talent Acquisition Manager

We’re seeking an aspiring leader in talent acquisition to join us in a new role, Talent Acquisition Manager. This person will be expected to provide high quality, timely, professional support and decision-making on hires, hiring policies & pipelines, scaling our recruiting practice, and on-boarding new employees. Reporting to the Director of People Operations, the Talent Acquisition Manager will join Kin + Carta West's recruitment efforts and their “clients” will be various hiring managers across Kin + Carta. The Talent Acquisition Manager works closely with operations to help grow our Talent Acquisition practice. Recruiting/Talent Acquisition Duties:
- Write and post technical job descriptions in a timely manner so that we’re casting a wide net and acting quickly on new hiring opportunities
- Source, recruit and interview candidates across product development, including: product owners, product designers, software developers, QA, DevOps, marketing, strategy, operations and finance.
- Source potential candidates on niche platforms, like Stack Overflow and Github, as well as traditional platforms like LinkedIn Recruiter to connect with passive & active candidates
- Be a decision maker on where we should be recruiting candidates, with a focus on Equity, Diversity & Inclusion in our talent pipeline
- Parse specialized skills and qualifications to screen IT resumes
- Perform pre-screening calls to analyze applicants’ abilities and align on expectations
- Interview candidates combining various methods (e.g. structured interviews, technical assessments and behavioral questions)
- Schedule follow-up interviews & meetings associated with hiring & onboarding; utilize Google calendar to review teammates’ schedules to arrange further applicable interviews with a sense of urgency
- Coordinate with practice lead to forecast department goals and hiring needs
- Craft and send personalized recruiting emails with current job openings to passive & active candidates for contract, contract to hire and direct hire opportunities
- Participate in tech conferences and industry meetups to network with IT/product development/design professionals
- Keep up to date with new industry trends and products, as well as hiring & recruiting trends
- Strategize and implement best practices for recruiting & hiring
- Utilize our testing tools to administer take-home assessments as a means of ensuring skills are aligned with open roles
- Act as a recruiting partner; this includes sourcing candidates, partnering with DE&I orgs/platforms, having a presence in various networking & recruitment channels, and fielding inbound applications. Review Applicant Tracking System (ATS) to identify past contacts for open jobs, while also helping to asses & track applicants for future opportunities, and responding to applicants to advance in the process or keep in touch for future roles
- Work individually, as well as with Practice Leads and Operations/Recruiting to maintain staffing documentation, track open jobs, and review staff availability
- Remove Job Descriptions in a timely manner; update candidates accordingly
Operational Duties:
- Administer reference checks for all applicants to ensure we adhere to our full hiring process
- Administer background checks to remain compliant with our hiring standards
- Compose job offer letters; ensure documentation is recorded according to process
- Onboard new hires and shepherd their experience into Kin + Carta West on the best foot possible
- Promote Kin + Carta's reputation as a great place to work
- Conduct job and task analyses to document job duties and requirements (ie., sit in on portfolio reviews, standups, etc.)
- Document/distribute meeting minutes and action items to appropriate recipients
- Help identify Equity, Diversity & Inclusion opportunities in which we can participate and/or partner with, locally or otherwise
- Understand gross margin goals to accurately set pay rates & salary bands
- Create and/or circulate Powerpoint decks for operational initiatives as well as company-wide viewing
- Help tackle action items surrounding policies, new/existing SOPs, team meetings, et all to ensure we stay on track/on pace with hiring & project timelines
- Onboard contractors & salaried employees: this might entail training new hires on our time entry software, contract review, and new hire info, as well as arranging their first day & administering all important documentation
- Act with a sense of professionalism, kindness, empathy, speed, and proactive communication
Ideal background you bring to the table:
- Seniority: Mid to Senior
- Proven recruiting/talent acquisition experience, with at least 2 years as a technical recruiter
- Proven work experience as an in-house recruiter with high volume of roles to staff strongly preferred
- Proven work experience in a staffing agency/consulting firm strongly preferred
- 1+ year of software development/coding experience strongly preferred; having a former practitioner on recruiting will help scale our hiring process
- 1+ year as a practitioner in product management or design experience is also of interest, but not required
- Rising / developing leader, but prior management experience is not required
- A visionary type who can help create recruiting strategies and scale teams while maintaining our Lean methodology
- A doer - someone who can brainstorm an idea and then act on it autonomously
- Confidence in negotiation conversations with candidates and stakeholders
- Confidence in acting autonomously, taking initiative, and using good judgement to make decisions
- Excellence in prioritizing responsibilities and time-blocking in order to stop starting and start finishing
- Hands-on experience with various interview formats (Ie., phone, Zoom, Google Meet, and structured)
- Technical expertise with an ability to understand and explain job requirements for IT, product management, and design roles
- Familiarity with Applicant Tracking Systems and resume databases
- Ability to learn gross margin goals to accurately set pay rates & ranges
- Experience working in an agency or startup environment; juggling multiple priorities and feeling energized in a fast-paced setting is common at Kin + Carta West
- Skills in customer service, client management, project, or account management are a big plus
- Experience with Google Calendar, Google Slides, Slack, Excel, LinkedIn Recruiter, Greenhouse, and/or StackOverflow is helpful
- Solid knowledge of sourcing techniques (e.g. social media recruiting and Boolean search)
- Solid understanding of HR practices and labor legislation is a plus
- A knack for delivering both fun news and not-so-fun news (ie., someone did or did not get the job, for example)
- Great, proactive, timely communication, both verbal & written
- Adaptability, a quick learner, quick on your feet
- Experience with equity, diversity & inclusion initiatives & efforts and commitment to align with them
- Experience writing compelling & persuasive narratives whether it’s job postings, press releases, SOWs, or something similar that captivates readers
- Experience coordinating group tasks in a diverse professional setting
- Strong organizational skills
- A working mantra of being effective, efficient, and continuously improving

Payment Info:
- For hourly 1099 contractors in this position, the pay range offered ranges from $30-57hr
- For full-time W2 employees, the pay range is $85-105K DOE + benefits. Benefits for full-time positions include unlimited PTO, various healthcare plans, vision, dental, 401K and Roth IRA plans, weekly yoga, annual education stipend and more.
