Guild, the leading education benefits platform and one of Denver's fastest growing startups, is increasing economic mobility for working adults in America and providing education and support to help every student survive and thrive in the economy of tomorrow. Our platform helps employers offer education as a benefit to their employees by connecting employers' workforces with our network of nonprofit universities and education institutions that focus on serving the needs of working adults. And, our team of retention coaches helps each employee navigate the path back to school, providing individualized support from day one through graduation. In order to accelerate our growth and achieve our mission to serve 1000s more students, we've raised over $70 million from top tier investors including Felicis Ventures, Bessemer Venture Partners, and Redpoint Ventures (among other social impact and VC partners!).

As the Recruiting Coordinator, you’ll support and coordinate recruiting efforts across Guild and play the lead role on sourcing and selection for core roles on across many Guild teams. This is a great opportunity to contribute directly to our mission by helping build the teams that will achieve our goals while also getting insight across the company as you learn, schedule, and participate in diverse recruiting activities. You will help plan innovative and new approaches to sourcing, screening, and onboarding new team members efficiently and with culture, diversity, and high performance in mind. You’ll be a critical member of the team, as a partner to internal team members and candidates alike, helping others navigate the process with an exceptional experience for all as the north star.

A day in our open, collaborative workspace might look like:

  • Scheduling, coordination, communication, and hosting candidates for interviews - you might interact with >50 new people every week!
  • Meeting with members of the People Ops team or hiring teams to discuss the status of candidate pipelines
  • Coordinating a cross-functional hiring event - at Guild or out in the community
  • Digging into one of our talent systems - Greenhouse, LinkedIn, or others we might engage as we seek to broaden our talent pools

In this role, you’ll grow and expand your expertise by:

  • Playing a critical role in the development of several of our fastest growing teams
  • Learning the ins and outs of various Guild teams as you support their hiring efforts - you’ll get a glimpse into their goals, operations, and priorities
  • Taking new and innovative approaches - together we’ll experiment and explore how we can differentiate Guild in the market as we attract talent and expand our team
  • Honing your sourcing and project management skills - this role will enable you to stretch beyond the status quo of a traditional recruiting role

You’ll know if you’re successful by:

  • Running efficient, effective hiring processes that lead to a strong pipeline of qualified candidates
  • Maintaining a calm, professional, and approachable demeanor when handling sensitive, tricky, or timely issues and changes
  • Building strong, mutually beneficial relationships with internal team members and candidates
  • Step in and step up with a voice and insight about how we can continue to evolve our processes and programs with quality, creativity and outcomes in mind
  • Achieving established OKRs and expectations while demonstrating your passion for our mission - you'll receive ongoing feedback through your 1:1 meetings and go through bi-annual Structured Growth Conversations

You’ll join a team:

  • Focused on our double-bottom-line mission of changing higher ed for working adults and building a successful startup in Denver
  • From diverse backgrounds – from traditional higher education, to athletic coaches, to politicians, to startup leaders (and more!)
  • Committed to building a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment that you’d support every day

What you’ll add to Guild – as an individual and part of the broader team:

  • Experience in a startup or similar fast-paced environment where there is frequent change and a need to demonstrate and act with a sense of urgency
  • Comfort with making adjustments and changes on the fly with a positive, collaborative attitude
  • Familiarity with the process, expectations, and objectives of recruiting, hiring and onboarding processes
  • Organizational skills, with a keen eye for the details and an obsessive commitment for accurate, timely, and effective coordination of interviews, events, and other recruiting activities
  • Communication and interpersonal skills and the drive to take ownership for the development and cultivation of strong internal and external relationships
  • Commitment and ability to deliver quality outcomes with a desire to improve and exceed expectations across all aspects of the role
  • Proactive problem solver capable of framing/identifying issues and generating solutions
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and work under pressure
  • A continuous improvement mindset and the ability to recognize, recommend, and take action on opportunities
  • Ability to work with confidential and/or sensitive material
  • Something else? Wonderful, we’re curious to learn more about you!

How do you collaborate with other teams in the company?

We're incredibly cross functional and believe heavily in developing and cultivating strong relationships not only with our external partners, but internally across and within departments as well. One of my favorite traditions is that each new hire at Guild is given a coffee card when they start to encourage them to grab coffee with others and get t

How has your career grown since starting at the company?

Since my humble beginning as a Guild Intern, I have had opportunities afforded to me that stretch me in ways that align with my values and push me to be a little uncomfortable while still having welcome support. I’m now in a position where I get to learn first-hand from experts that I don’t believe I was qualified for before working at Guild.

Paco

Senior Associate of University Operations

What kinds of technical challenges do you and your team face?

My team works on ensuring that new users can find what they need and engage with our platform easily. Many of the technical challenges we face involve scaling the early-stage version of Guild’s app into something more flexible for our next growth phase. We deal with the difficult (but fascinating!) tradeoffs of these decisions every day.
