People and Places Specialist
ABOUT THE ROLE:
Udemy is seeking a People and Places Specialist to join our scaling People team. This role wears 2 hats - 50% of the time you will help our People Operations function drive our total rewards and people programs, and 50% of the time you will support the Workplace function in creating a welcoming, organized, clean and comfortable office environment in our new Denver office. This is a great opportunity for you to gain experience in many different areas of Human Resources and make a significant impact along the way.
The ideal candidate has 2+ years of HR or Workplace experience, an approachable demeanor, a superb attention to detail, and a can-do attitude. Experience with Workday is a plus.
Here's what you'll be doing for our People Operations:
- Act as an initial point of contact for employee questions regarding benefits, policy and process questions, and systems issues.
- Assist with benefits administration, including coordinating employee leaves of absence, auditing benefit bills, and supporting our Benefits Manager with special projects.
- Support our Whole U employee wellness program, planning wellness-related events throughout the year.
- Process transactions and perform regular data audits in Workday, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
- Manage new employee onboarding in Workday.
- Respond to data requests and run ad hoc reports as needed.
- Assist with compensation and benefits survey submissions.
- Ensure our employee documentation is up to date and compliant.
- Manage HR Tools including Reflektive, Leave Logic, and CultureAmp.
- Respond to requests for employment verifications.
Here's what you'll be doing for our Workplace:
- Own the front desk: Greet visitors and provide accurate information and instructions.
- Assist with office build-out and in coordinating future office expansion.
- Maintain security by recommending and following procedures.
- Oversee all purchasing for the office and ensure snacks, beverages, and other supplies are always fully stocked.
- Provide administrative support to the office including incoming and outgoing mail, inventory management, supply ordering, etc.
- Schedule and maintain office calendar.

- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- 2+ years of HR or Workplace experience.
- A customer service mindset and friendly demeanor. You like people and you like to pitch in and help!
- An aptitude for learning new systems and making things run smoothly.
- The desire to learn about multiple areas of HR.
- The ability to partner effectively with a diverse group of colleagues across many functions and countries.
- The ability to prioritize and stay organized in a constantly evolving work environment.
