A Little About the Role
Procare is seeking a Payroll/HRIS specialist to maintain our payroll and benefit systems and prepare and process semi-monthly payroll. Your focus will be on producing high quality, detailed work based on established standards, guidelines and procedures. This position is designed to develop a valued technical expert who can deliver quality work on a consistent basis. At Procare, you’ll have a stable work environment, clear goals and a path to consistently achieve them.What You'll Do:
- Enter, maintain, and/or process information all payroll and time-keeping systems, ensuring data integrity
- Process semi-monthly payroll in accordance with Company policy and all federal, state, and local guidelines
- Ensure proper processing of payroll deductions such as taxes, employee benefits, charitable contributions, and other deductions
- Maintain accurate payroll records
- Manage timecards in the Company’s time tracking system
- Audit for discrepancies, report to management and follow through to resolution
- Maintain tax rates, UI rates, filing types, and frequency
- Record and process federal and state payroll tax deposits
- Create new employee profiles upon hiring in a variety of systems, including payroll/HRIS, expense, travel, and ben admin sites
- Conduct New Hire Benefits Orientation sessions
- Offboard employees upon termination of employment
- Respond to verifications of employment
- Manage benefit administration system
- Review and reconcile benefits and related invoices
- Prepare funding files for 401(k), FSA, and HSA accounts
- Manage year end reporting, testing, and auditing, including ACA and 401(k) reporting
- Serve as a resource for employees and managers on questions around systems, pay, and policies
- Become the subject matter expert on the Company’s people related systems, and ensure that it is updated to reflect current policies
- Collaborates with HR and accounting teams on special projects and other business initiatives
Requirements
Our Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- 5+ years' experience running payroll for a multi-state organization required
- 2+ years' hands on experience with 401(k) responsibilities
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
- Clear, professional communication skills: verbal and written
- Critical evaluation skills
- Ethical practice and confidentiality
- Strong knowledge of payroll functions including preparation, balancing, internal controls, and payroll taxes
- Demonstrated experience with at least one cloud-based payroll provider
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information
- Proficient with knowledge of MS Office: Word, Excel, Outlook
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or related field preferred
- Payroll Certification preferred

Salary
$18-$28/hour DOE
Location
This position is based in our downtown Denver office. We are currently in a flexible hybrid in-office/remote working model based on local COVID-19 health regulations and business needs. Candidates must be willing and able to work from our downtown Denver office a few days a week.
