Guild, the leading education benefits platform and one of Denver's fastest growing startups, is increasing economic mobility for working adults in America and providing education and support to help every student survive and thrive in the economy of tomorrow. Our platform helps employers offer education as a benefit to their employees by connecting employers' workforces with our network of nonprofit universities and education institutions that focus on serving the needs of working adults. And, our team of retention coaches helps each employee navigate the path back to school, providing individualized support from day one through graduation. In order to accelerate our growth and achieve our mission to serve 1000s more students, we've raised over $70 million from top tier investors including Felicis Ventures, Bessemer Venture Partners, and Redpoint Ventures (among other social impact and VC partners!). Now, we’re looking to add a Manager of Training to the team.

The Manager of Training will help us design and build training and quality for a student advising organization from the ground up. You’ll bring your expertise to our fast-paced, rapid-change environment and build on our early thinking regarding quality standards for a variety of customer-facing departments from coaching to retention.

A day in our open, collaborative workspace will look a little like this:

  • Designing and implementing quality and training programs suitable for a workforce that includes employees that are new to their careers as well as those with a decade or more of experience
  • Facilitating training yourself in-person
  • Building engaging training materials that function well in-person and as self-paced e-learning
  • Supporting the development of a culture that values #studentsfirst and results, and that makes coaching an attractive long-term career path
  • Analyzing performance data to constantly improve coaching and yield efforts and processes with an eye for improving sales outcomes
  • Designing and implementing a quality assurance program that ensures that we’re helping improve individual and aggregate performance
  • Managing large / long-term projects to drive improved efficiency in the use of tools and training for the team
  • Supporting the hiring of new team members through interviews through onboarding
  • Collaborating with cross-functional colleagues to improve the performance of all teams and individuals

In this role, you’ll grow and expand your expertise by:

  • Taking on a people development role that will help you impact one of our core goals and missions
  • Developing a continuous improvement process where we identify and address needs and support individual and team development through tools, training, and ongoing support
  • Learning new technologies to support learning, reporting and impact
  • Receiving and delivering feedback through our learning-focused twice annual Structured Growth Conversations

You’ll know if you’re successful by:

  • Achieving established improvement goals for the teams you impact
  • Supporting the successful expansion of the Student Services and Enrollment Advising teams
  • Improving student retention and completion rates
  • Driving high employee satisfaction and employee retention rates
  • Building onboarding programs that increase speed-to-effectiveness for newly hired staff
  • Designing, implementing and adapting ongoing sales and service training that is second-to-none in its measured outcomes, use of technology to boost learning, and innovative approach to long-term impact on results

You’ll join a team:

  • Of experts with experience in government, higher education, and private sector partnerships
  • Of learners & problem-solvers dedicated to our dual mission of changing education in America while building a successful, high-growth company
  • Committed to building a diverse, equitable and inclusive environment that you’d support every day

What you’ll add to Guild - as an individual and part of the broader team:

  • Passion for higher education and our mission
  • Direct experience facilitating in-person training, designing in-person training and e-learning, and coaching a team
  • A deep understanding of training for student-facing roles
  • An ongoing improvement process that utilizes QA and feedback to provide individual feedback and group improvement
  • Experience using analytical approaches to develop, measure and evolve processes
  • Ability to develop strong relationships and communicate effectively while under pressure - balancing confidence, humility, and diplomacy internally and externally
  • Evidence of your intellectual curiosity in the education and employee benefits space - do you blog, tweet, speak or read everything that’s out there - tell us more!
  • Leadership experience managing complex problems, processes, projects, and people in a sales environment
  • A drive to work hard and a plan for how you can refresh and recharge while working in a startup
  • Something else? Wonderful, we’re curious to learn more about you!
