Learning and Development Specialist

Purpose: This person is responsible for delivering training at Alto Pharmacy. The key program includes new hire programs in both the care and fertility programs. The team is also training the company-wide onboarding program, continuous training for both care and fertility, training on particular fertility programs (Progyny, donor training), Pharmacist training, and finally, ensuring that individuals with or without a pharmacy background have the skills they need to excel at Alto Pharmacy.


Responsibilities:

Content Creation:

  • Design and document new and exciting instructional material and compelling course content using the various mediums: in-person, online.
  • Create engaging learning activities.
  • Create, maintain and update all training materials and curriculum, including: slide decks, facilitator guides, handouts/participant guides, learner activities, reference guides.
  • Incorporate Alto Values into training.

Content Delivery:

  • Facilitate and deliver new hire training across different mediums, including live classroom training and virtual training.
  • Show a strong command of classroom management, adapting to deliver the most engaging, interactive experience possible.
  • Experience working with a Learning Management System (LMS), Articulate Storyline, and Office or Google Suite. 
  • Work with leaders and quality team members to ensure program is meeting organizational metrics; suggest updates or changes as applicable.

Information Management:

  • Ensure accuracy of Standard Work/Standard Operating Procedure and work with leadership to advocate for updates to Standard Work as required.
  • Ensure Standard work is being updated regularly on knowledge sharing platforms - e.g Notion, SharePoint etc
  • Model Standard Work adherence and advocate for Standard Work adherence by trainees.

People Development

  • Cultivate problem solving and critical thinking skills among learners.
  • Train additional part-time trainers on training expectations and ensure training standards are met with class and trainer.
  • Assist with the 30-day assessments/audits.
  • Provide synthesized and clearly documented individual reporting to managers for new hire assessment feedback and to provide guidance on coaching issues for new hires.
  • Build effective relationships with other internal departments and Subject Matter Experts (SME) to ensure exceptional collaboration.

Personal Development

  • Build and maintain skills 
  • Schedule and maintain working on the front lines at a regular cadence 


You are an ideal candidate if you:

  • Have a bachelor’s degree and three years of related experience in training or similar field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Are working or have worked in the healthcare or pharmacy industry desirable
  • Enjoy and have experience creating training content and delivering training, either internally or externally with clients/customers
  • Possess effective verbal and written communication skills and have strong presentation and motivational skills
  • Have leadership or mentorship experience; comfortable with coaching others and delivering feedback
  • Have experience working with a Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Process oriented, has developed and/or improved processes.
  • Are highly organized and independent with project management experience
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability with unforeseen challenges; ability to think critically on the fly
  • Have a passion for problem solving and continuous improvement mindset
  • Possess high emotional intelligence; ability to empathize and adapt to behavioral queues and different learning speeds/styles
  • Are able to work in an ambiguous and quickly moving environment
