Your Mission

Establish Pie as the preeminent commercial insurance among small business owners by building a best-in-class recruiting team that will produce top talent and grow our organization. You’ll be joining Pie at an exciting time as we were recently named to DC Inno’s 50 on Fire.

How You’ll Do It

Pie believes in the power of human potential. Hiring amazing talent is core to our ability to serve the small business community. As our Director of Talent Acquisition, you will have a direct and enormous impact on Pie’s ability to scale our business by recruiting exceptional fellow Pie-oneers. Who we recruit influences who becomes a Pie-oneer and, ultimately, the experience we deliver for our customers. Diversity, innovation, inclusion, achievement, culture - everything starts with who we recruit and the mindsets our team members bring to work each day.

Pie's recruiting process is collaborative. Your hiring leaders are incredibly focused on finding the best person for the role and for the team. This position enables Pie to increase the speed in which we are able to respond to business demand. And, this increased speed will be done through the understanding and establishment of a best-in-class recruiting process.

Whether It’s Right For You

Pie’s People and Talent teams work out of both Denver and DC, but don’t let the geographical divide fool you. This incredibly collaborative team is in tight, constant communication. Sitting in Denver, you will be a trusted partner to our VP of People and Talent and will work across the leadership team as we scale to 200+ team members by the end of 2020. This position will require some travel between Denver and DC and possibly to other locations.

You will be joining our team in downtown Denver, specifically LoDo, within walking distance from Union Station. Everything we do is connected, but we each have different roles. That means we need you to bring strong in-house recruiting leadership experience with an inclination toward high-growth scaling through process, sourcing and technology. We also need you to be willing and able to balance running daily operations with special projects. We are a start-up. All hands and minds are needed.

Our team is looking for an experienced leader. We expect you’ll bring eight years of progressive recruiting experience, preferably in-house, with at least three of those years building and leading an in-house team. Having previous experience working in a high-growth, venture-backed startup would be ideal in this position. Of course, you’ll also need certain skills and abilities to do the work.

The Right Stuff

  • TA Leadership Experience. 8 years of experience working in talent acquisition with 3 or more years leading high-performing in-house recruiting teams.
  • Objective Hiring. Develop and maintain successful hiring practices through data driven practices. Utilize data to make a better interview and hiring process decisions.
  • Technology. You're a tech-progressive leader who is looking for new ways to leverage tech to improve recruiting outcomes and the candidate experience. Prior experience with Lever ATS helpful but not required.
  • Execution. Ability to operate with significant speed and autonomy while maintaining a high level of collaboration across the team and with the VP, People and Talent.
  • Direct Sourcing. Strong experience in developing highly effective direct sourcing programs to recruit and hire the best talent available in the market.
  • Brand Building. Collaborate with marketing and various organizations (Built in Colorado, Stack Overflow) to establish Pie as a top employer in the Denver employment market.
  • Team Development. Continuous development of talent acquisition team through learning opportunities and stretch assignments that will challenge and develop your teams ability to recruit in the Denver/DC markets.
  • Adaptability. You thrive when creating order from ambiguity and demonstrate experience successfully adapting to a dynamic environment where processes and priorities change quickly.
  • Communication. We are a collaborative team that puts communication at the core of what we do. Building trusting relationships within and outside of the team through proactive communication and planning. We need you to be lighting fast with your responses because recruiting is a top priority for the future success of our business.

Working at Pie

  • You expect to challenge others and to be challenged.
  • Your communication style is candid and compassionate.
  • You share your knowledge. We aren’t here to compete with one another; we are in it to win it, together.
  • You share our passion for the small business community.
