about the director of people:

soona is looking for a director of people to lead our talent management, human resource and recruiting functions with the goal of continuing to grow soona as a highly sought after employer with an exceptional crew and culture. responsibilities for this senior role are broad, strategic and highly impactful. they include recruiting for executive and staff positions, hr compliance across multiple states, staff compensation, benefits administration, onboarding, the employee review process, employee satisfaction, and support and enhancement of soona’s culture. the ideal candidate will have deep experience in recruiting and hr/talent with an exceptional ability to communicate at all levels of the company. this individual will be a proven producer, dynamic, extremely comfortable in a fast-paced environment, and energized by rapid growth and scale.

this is a full-time position located in denver or minneapolis. the role will report to our vp of finance, Jess Lane, with a dotted line to the founders.

Requirements

an ideal candidate can:

NEW TALENT (recruiting, onboarding):

  • lead and develop the soona recruiting and hiring process including developing a sourcing process
  • support each department’s hiring needs with quality, diverse candidates that match soona’s culture
  • manage the existing HR team and delegate responsibilities
  • develop and execute the new employee onboarding process that fits with company and departmental goals and sets up new staff for success
  • manage all 3rd party hiring and recruiting systems and partners from software to contract recruiters
  • build and promote the soona brand as an employer of choice

EXISTING TALENT (hr, benefits, retention, employee satisfaction and culture):

this role will oversee the full suite of soona talent and hr functions including, but not limited to the following:

  • create and manage an effective and competitive compensation strategy in coordination with finance for all employees based on experience, market research and salary surveys
  • own the employee benefit programs to ensure competitiveness, effectiveness, efficiency and alignment with soona culture and values
  • work across departments to build, implement, and update staffing plans that support the business strategy and growth trajectory
  • resolve employee performance issues and/or conflicts with industry best practices and the soona culture
  • in coordination with leadership, proactively ensure all soona’s employee processes (recruiting, hiring, operating, performance, etc) across offices and with at-home remote staff are compliant with country, local, state, and federal regulations including any temporary health and safety regulations
  • be a critical and confidential point of communication, escalation and feedback for staff regarding issues or concerns
  • manage the annual performance review program, working with leaders to ensure that it drives high performance and employee retention
  • work with co-founders to maintain and develop soona’s unique culture to ensure that it increases employee satisfaction and engagement while fostering diversity and inclusion
  • oversee payroll processing and compliance (including bonuses and fringe benefits) in coordination with the finance department
  • recommend and execute employee training and development programs
  • track, analyze and continually improve soona’s core hr performance metrics

has experience in:

  • 10 years talent/hr and recruiting experience; experience within a digital environment; BA/BS desired
  • experience building and/or rolling out talent solutions in a fast-paced or high growth environment; proven ability to produce a quality pipeline of candidates
  • exceptional communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and problem solving skills; ability to effectively address tricky situations and have difficult conversations
  • self starter and task juggler with strong organizational skills/detail orientation
  • demonstrated experience working across all levels of an organization
  • experience supporting the evolution of a high performing, high morale culture is a strong plus in our hiring process
  • experience recruiting for technology positions
