Wowza Media Systems is looking for a Director of People Operations to join our team and drive the future of how Wowza recruits, recognizes, and retains great people. The Director of People Operations at Wowza is responsible for the development and implementation of HR strategic objectives, programs and processes that support the enterprise’s strategic plan as a valued partner. This role entails delivering practical, consistent, and proactive partnership with all areas of the business on all aspects of Wowza’s employees and human resources. The successful candidate will be passionate about creating and delivering impactful programs around talent development and HR strategy as they are administering and performing hands-on work.

Key Responsibilities

Manage all aspects of Wowza’s relationships with employees and build a world-class people and talent management practice to support Wowza’s growth. Provide leadership on all employee issues by proposing, designing, implementing, and managing comprehensive programs for all aspects of the employee lifecycle (from and including recruiting, onboarding, training, performance management, employee development, employee advancement and compensation, internal communications, offboarding, and HR compliance).

Evolve the Wowza people and culture department to be a process-driven strategic partner to Wowza leaders with the objective of measurably improving employee performance. Make people programs a competitive differentiator by attracting and retaining the brightest and most customer-obsessed team around.

Create energy and engagement around where the company is going. Develop a strategic internal communications plan. Develop and lead a program to frequently (at least monthly) engage employees and provide opportunities for employee input.

Completely overhaul and redevelop the Wowza hiring practice, to leverage data and process discipline for more efficient, urgency-based hiring. Manage the Wowza corporate recruiter.

Establish and lead a curriculum-based “people manager community of practice,” to lead and support Wowza managers in an ongoing process to improve their work as people managers, to support and develop their employees, and to better provide actionable performance feedback to employees.

Own, create, and deliver strategic data-backed information on Wowza’s employees to the executive team. Establish a cadence and structure for data reporting.

Required Experience

  • Proven development and leadership of program-level initiatives in a range of HR or people operations areas, where strategic value was delivered to the business
  • Experience with remote or geographically dispersed teams, and international employees
  • Experience managing vendors, including technology platforms and (ideally) PEOs
  • Experience developing and managing employee handbooks and policies

Compensation and Benefits

Salary: $125,000 - $150,000

Wowza does some awesome events; we go to Rockies games and participate in an event where we brew our own beer and then we compete with other start ups. We also have team happy hours, we celebrate each other's anniversaries at the company and birthdays. We do that once monthly and bring snacks, cakes and all sorts of great stuff and internally.
