Summary:

The Benefits, Comp & Payroll Administrator coordinates and manages the employee benefits & compensation programs to align with the company employee rewards strategy. Serves as an administrator to Payroll processing.

Duties/ Responsibilities:

Employee Compensation & Benefits Design

  • Research employee benefits plans (including but not limited to health, life & disability insurance, health savings accounts, 401k savings, etc), and vendors to align with company employee rewards strategy.
  • Design, recommend and implement compensation & benefits programs.
  • (May) negotiate with benefit vendors and administrators for best plans, options and rates.
  • Research and compare incentive compensation plans offered by demographically comparable organizations; assess competitors’ plans and makes recommendations for enhancements or improvements required to keep the organization’s compensation & benefit plans competitive and effective.
  • Maintain knowledge of economic conditions, labor market, and other factors related to ensuring the organization provides competitive and reasonable benefits and compensation scales and structures.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, developments, and best practices in compensation and benefits administration.

Employee Compensation & Benefits Administration

  • Serve as primary contact for plan vendors and third-party administrators.
  • Facilitate accurate and timely delivery of employer contributions and employee payroll deductions to carriers, plan administrators, or other appropriate service providers.
  • Document and maintain administrative procedures for assigned benefits processes. 
  • Coordinate benefits processing. Manage enrollments, COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability, accident and death claims, rollovers, QDROs, QMCSOs, distributions, loans, hardships and compliance testing. 
  • Oversee maintenance of employee benefits files, maintain group benefits database and update employee payroll records.
  • Survey industry trends. Complete benefits surveys and review information obtained from the results. Analyze complex benefits information. Forecast trends and assist with future benefits designs. Develop specific recommendations for review by management.
  • Monitor administrative costs of benefits programs and recommend cost containment strategies, including alternative methods for administration and funding. Prepare budgetary recommendations and assist in the monitoring, verifying and reconciling of budgeted funds.
  • Design & distribute communication materials for benefits orientations, open enrollment and summary plan descriptions.
  • Manage job compensation structures, competitive wage market data, variable pay, and merit process

Employee Compensation & Benefits Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with applicable government regulations. Ensure timeliness and accuracy of required reporting and fees.
  • Perform plan audits as required; monitor administrators’ and insurance carriers’ reports to ensure the organization’s compliance with plan requirements.
  • Ensures the organization’s and plans’ compliance with the applicable provisions of COBRA, HIPAA, and ERISA.
  • Completes records, reporting, and other documentation required by federal, state, and provider rules, regulations, and policies.

Payroll Administration

  • Enters, maintains, and/or processes information in the payroll system; information may include employees hourly rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, address changes, and other information.
  • Ensures proper & timely processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, charitable contributions, and other deductions.
  • Records and processes federal and state payroll tax deposits.
  • Reconciles payroll to the general ledger and monthly bank statements.
  • Issues, or reissues, physical or replacement checks or direct deposits due to payroll errors or final discharge.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
  • Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of employee benefits and compensation.
  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to use Microsoft products, including PowerPoint; experience with HRIS and benefits databases.
  • Project and team management/leadership skills and experience.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment with associates.
  • Effective planning and priority setting. Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills and a thorough knowledge of plan designs.
  • Ability to understand, evaluate and make judgment on proposals (RFPs).
  • Knowledge of benefits contract language.
  • Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements, both adopted and pending, affecting employee benefits programs, including the ACA, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, workers' compensation, Medicare, OBRA, and Social Security and DOL requirements.
  • Excellent communication, organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficient with payroll software.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, Accounting, or related required.
  • Five years of experience related to administering compensation or benefits programs, and/or payroll administration preferred
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP and/or CEBS preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.

Our office is located on prime real estate, right next to Top Golf in Centennial. The office is easily accessible via RTD bus and rail transit system.
