The Payroll Analyst role within the IHS Markit Global Payroll team is above all a team-oriented position.  This position reports to the Americas Payroll Manager out of Englewood, Colorado. Expectations are to build relationships internally and externally, collaborating with cross-functional teams (benefits, human resource/hr services, accounting, employee and other key business partners).  The successful individual will have a solid understanding of payroll related matters, including compensation and benefit taxation.  Key responsibility centers on management of information within the HCM and Payroll system assuring accuracy and timeliness. Technical expertise with human capital management systems is a plus. 

 

Responsibilities       

  • Analyze, approve, audit HCM system (Workday) data
  • Resolve median level questions and issues surfacing from interactions with key partners and within the HCM/Payroll system
  • Strong adherence to deadlines - ensuring accurate and timely payroll
  • Ensure intermediate level knowledge and accuracy of employee and/or employer contributions for statutory requirements (tax or benefits) for responsible country payroll processing
  • Basic knowledge of processing payroll for expatriates, relocation, severance, equity and multifaceted payments
  • Support leave documentation
  • Research current essential information for payroll compliance with taxation and regulations for responsible countries
  • Basic knowledge of pensions, healthcare, life and noninsured benefit plans and how these may concept may intersect with processing payroll
  • Work independently with minimal supervision
  • Respond to internal and external audit requests as directed by supervisor
  • Training of employees and managers on self-service attributes of HCM system and payroll documents
  • Track, update and create process documentation materials as directed
  • Prepare monthly reports as required
  • Duties as assigned

 

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or equivalent experience
  • 4 or more years of recent continuous direct US payroll experience
  • Intermediate knowledge and skills in Excel and Word
  • Superior customer service skills
  • Basic skills in audit
  • Ability to multitask (manage and prioritize workloads) and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent time-management skills with ability to meet deadlines
  • Team player who can work with varying levels of staff in multiple locations
  • ·Basic knowledge of HCM/Payroll systems
  • Strong attention to detail and effective planning, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Proactive troubleshooting, listening and problem-solving skills
  • Be accountable to team members for agreements and promises, own responsibilities and duties
  • Seeks out experiences that may change perspective or provide opportunity to learn new skills
  • American Payroll Association FPC certification not required but expected to be obtained within 12 months of hire
