Job Summary

The VP, Operations Excellence is a results-oriented technology executive, who reports to the CFO and is responsible for defining and driving business transformation, streamlining operations and building new solutions to simplify business processes and deliver on strategic objectives. It is important that the person who fills this role is hands on and able to contribute as both a manager and individual contributor. This position will manage a large team including billing, order management, accounts receivable/collections, special project managers, and data analysts and will forge key relationships with all finance and shared services personnel across Vertafore.

Primary Functions:

  • Optimize current Salesforce.com and NetSuite and other billing and order management systems to enable long term savings and drive customer success.
  • Oversight for quote to cash projects that integrate financial and customer order information to standardize and speed up the sales, renewals, order management, fulfillment and revenue recognition processes.
  • Document requirements for configuring customer relationship management (CRM) applications and uses CRM implementation methodologies.
  • Develops a roadmap for CRM system enhancements and works with various teams to establish a process of defining and prioritizing those enhancements.
  • Apply information systems development, implementation and operation control concepts in a wide variety of technology settings and assess the exposures including cyber-risk resulting from ineffective or missing control practices or technology applications.
  • Coach and develop a team of data and business process analysts to run a world class operations team.
  • Architect and maintain high key reporting dashboards, reports and KPIs across the business to share with stakeholders and management.
  • Ensures high quality of all CRM data elements enabling repeatable measurement and analytics.
  • Interface with 3rd party vendors to ensure that the overall solution architecture meets business objectives and can be maintained in an efficient way.
  • Lead evaluation and selection of any 3rd party vendors required to enhance capabilities and business processes.
  • Assist the business owners in creation of use cases used in the design validation and subsequently in testing the system. 
  • Capture high level solutions and business process flows for major initiatives which have impact on the architecture, object model, integration, or business process. 
  • Perform business systems audits and control work throughout the organization.
  • Lead efforts to develop and deliver training related to quote to cash reporting tools.
  • Work closely with the CFO and others on ad hoc analyses.

  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all other team deliverables and tasks are completed on time and to high standards

Education and Years of Experience:

  • Minimum of bachelor's degree.
  • Previous experience in the FP&A function with previous management experience (preferred).
  • Previous experience with system design as well as CRM and ERP business process transformation
  • Must have knowledge of sales and key finance processes
  • Must have strong knowledge of accounting and financial concepts and practices (preferred).
  • Experience with managing and/or implementing Business Intelligence for financial performance management.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in business software architecture and process design.
  • Strong interpersonal, collaboration, planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to influence and coordinate activities across multiple senior stakeholders both on the business and technical side
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Background in designing E2E order management solutions integrating with 3rd party CRM, ERP and e-Commerce platforms
  • Experience with process improvement, documenting business process flows
  • Background in working with Application Development organizations is strongly desired
  • Excellent business owner-facing communication skills and ability to translate business requirements to system designs
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude is very important
  • Advanced time management and analytical skills
  • Must have strong knowledge and command of all MS Office applications, especially MS Excel.
  • Experience with Adaptive Insights is highly preferred.
  • Must have strong knowledge and command of Salesforce.com, NetSuite and other billing and order management systems.
  • Self-motivated, ability to work under pressure and on own initiative.
