About the Role

 

The executive will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership of the company’s Finance function including FP&A (financial reporting & analysis) and accounting operations while serving as the right hand person to the CEO for financial leadership and sound decision making.

This person is a self-starter who thrives in the fast-paced, sometimes unstructured environment of a technology and financial services startup, who can bring process expertise to the function while producing results with minimal supervision.  The executive will focus on key growth initiatives, cost savings initiatives and customer financial analysis, while managing OrthoFi’s cash flows, accounting operations, and budgeting & forecasting.

 

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Work closely with the CEO to develop and oversee the business strategy, budget and timeline, according to the company's strategic objectives and goals.

  • Contributes at the senior level by working across different teams in the company; able to set, engage and champion the objectives of the organization across the entire company and with their team

  • Participate in the executive leadership team to provide direction on business planning and processes, defining and tracking critical business metrics, goals and objectives and forecasts.

  • Forecast OrthoFi’s cash position, analyze need for future capital and drive future capital raises and/or financial transactions

  • Responsible for reporting key current operational statistics and financial numbers.

  • Provide analytical and financial support to functional departments including Operations, Technology and Business Development

  • Drive budgetary planning processes and monitoring, including creation and maintenance of product models

  • Manage a team of accounting and finance professionals, providing visionary leadership and subject matter expertise. Build and develop a team with high personal accountability and employee engagement while empowering team members to accomplish amazing things.

  • Own all monthly accounting close responsibilities including Account Receivable, Account Payable, Treasury Management, Month End Close, etc.

 

Desired Skills and Experience

  • 15+ years of experience at either a top investment bank, strategy consulting firm, “Big Four” accounting firm, or operational experience at a technology or financial services start-up.

  • The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of financial leadership experience with experience in the software space.

  • Experience overseeing financial reporting, month-end close, consolidations, cash flow and income statements, balance sheet accounts, revenue recognition, accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash/treasury management, audit management and tax

  • Direct involvement and oversight of a number of financial transactions including angel investments, capital raising from venture capital or private equity, bank financing or acquisition

  • Motivated self-starter with advanced problem solving and issue resolution skills

  • Ability to lead multiple projects with tight deadlines, to follow through to completion and to present conclusions to senior management in an organized and thoughtful fashion

  • Advanced knowledge of Excel with strong financial modeling skills

  • Familiarity with statistical software (ex. Tableau) and experience with SQL a plus

  • Consumer Lending experience with a knowledge of credit algorithms a plus but required

  • Experience with managing migration of financial system to an ERP

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics required from a top undergraduate program.  

  • MBA, CPA and/or CFA strongly preferred
