Tax Accountant

Responsibilities: 

This position brings an exciting opportunity in a fast-paced technology company reporting directly to Senior Manager of Tax. This position will collaborate with the Sr. Manager on all aspects of ANGI HomeServices US Indirect Tax activities. The position is primarily responsible for supervising and reviewing sales and use tax filings and property tax filings, assisting US Indirect audit defense, and maintaining monthly accounting close process for tax accounts. This position will also play a supporting role to payroll to assist with payroll tax research, corresponding with state unemployment offices, and assist with payroll tax filings. The role will be a primary player and leader in implementing and integrating new systems and processes.  

 Key Objectives/Deliverables: 

• Conduct ongoing research of applicable tax laws as it related to indirect and payroll taxes 
• Reconcile and Review all sales and use tax filings as prepared by third party sales tax software provider 
• Prepare all internal sales tax and property tax filings for review by Sr. Manager Tax 
• Manage and approve payroll tax filings prepared by outside vendors 
• Recording tax payments in general ledger system 
• Maintain tax general ledger accounts and reconciliations  
• Assist with defense of tax audits, including gathering and supplying supporting documentation and communicating with field personnel as needed.
• Correspond with government offices regarding tax matters and notices 
• Conduct special projects related to tax activities as they arise 
• Oversee maintenance of the sales tax and payroll software to ensure accurate outputs 

Minimum Requirements: 

• 4+ years US Indirect tax compliance experience  
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting 
• Broad knowledge of US Indirect tax planning, compliance, and strategies 

Additional Preferences: 

• Experience with Vertex, Avalara, and Checkpoint research program 
• CPA preferred 
• Strong oral and written communication skills 
• Excellent organizational and self-management skills 
• Payroll tax experience
