Guild is increasing economic mobility for working adults in America, providing education and support to help every student survive and thrive in the economy of tomorrow. Our education benefits platform helps employers offer education as a benefit to their employees, and our network of nonprofit universities and education institutions helps provide every Guild student with the right academic pathway to advance their education and career. In order to achieve our mission to serve 1000s more students and accelerate our growth, we recently raised a $21M Series B round with top tier investors including Bessemer Venture Partners, Redpoint Ventures, Social Capital, Harrison Metal, and Cowboy Ventures. Now, we’re looking to add an Administrative Assistant to the team. Now, we’re looking to add a Student Finance Specialist to the team.

As a Student Finance Specialist at Guild, you will play a critical role in our students’ educational paths by assisting them as they submit documents required to complete their Federal Financial Aid application and seek additional financial support to start or return to school. You will be a Guild ambassador and trusted partner who believes in the power of education for students making transformational life decisions to use their education benefits and advance their professional opportunities.

A day in our open, collaborative workspace will look a little like this:

  • Engaging with interested prospective students during the enrollment process to help them understand Federal financial aid programs, scholarship, and other grant opportunities
  • Advising students regarding financial aid letters and the Federal verification processes
  • Owning the outcomes of these conversations as key to the students’ paths forward and a critical component to Guild’s long term success
  • Accurately managing student billing and account information in Salesforce and other digital technology tools
  • Motivating every single possible student to move quickly to complete the required steps
  • Expertly navigating our internal contact strategy to communicate with students whether by phone, email, text, or other communication channels
  • Working with various other Guild teams every day, ensuring they have up to date information on all students and that transition processes across teams are smooth
  • Developing relationships with scholarship providers and resources to collect and maintain accurate database information for available scholarship programs across the United States
  • Using your dashboard and technology tools to log in to our Tuition Reimbursement (TR) tool to receive and process TR requests on behalf of our employer partners

In this role, you’ll expand your expertise by:

  • Taking on a cross-functional role that will expose you to the ins and outs of Guild
  • Developing and improving your consultative conversation approaches through feedback and call coaching, training programs, and collaboration with team members

You’ll know if you’re successful by:

  • Supporting innovation, process improvement, and positive change in the student experience and student billing processes
  • Ensuring Guild’s student data is entered and accurate, the many components of a completed Admissions Application and Student Account information are tracked and collected, and everyone on the student’s enrollment team is kept up to date on the student’s progress

You’ll join a team:

  • From diverse backgrounds – from traditional higher education, to athletic coaches, to politicians, to mental health professionals (and more!)
  • Of learners & problem-solvers dedicated to our dual mission of changing education in America while building a successful, high-growth company
  • Committed to building a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment that you’d support every day

What you’ll add to Guild as an individual and part of the broader team:

  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and trust with others quickly on the phone and via email or text
  • Comfort with complex financial conversations and student financial aid processes, the ability to persuade a customer (student) to take action to apply for financial aid through Federal and other programs, and follow through on financial planning and actions
  • A data-driven mindset and the ability to use insights from qualitative conversations and quantitative metrics to build stronger relationships and achieve better results
  • Experience in a higher education environment, preferably in Financial Aid, Registrar, Business Office, or Accounting
  • Ability to successfully accomplish goals driven by lead flow as part of a high-performing, metrics-driven team
  • A belief in our mission - this role is compensated on base pay, not incentive bonuses
  • Great attention to detail, and a highly-organized approach to your daily work
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience with Salesforce or a similar CRM
  • Roll-up-the-sleeves, action oriented mindset to have an impact in a fast-paced, rapidly changing growth environment
  • Something else? Wonderful, we’re curious to learn more about you!
