About Caliper

Caliper Foods (caliperfoods.life) is a consumer packaged goods company that offers safe and standardized hemp-derived soluble cannabinoids to both consumers and manufacturers alike.

Caliper Foods encompasses two distinct business lines: (1) Caliper Commercial Ingredients, which provides soluble CBD ingredients at scale to food, beverage, supplement, and other CPG manufacturers; and (2) Caliper Consumer, which sells its own line of CBD-infused products nationwide.

Caliper Foods was founded in 2015 on the belief that cannabinoids, especially non-psychoactive compounds like CBD, are a major new category in functional ingredients.

About the Job

We are looking for an Staff Accountant, to perform accounting and clerical duties and ensure the accuracy of our financial records. This role is responsible for reconciling accounts payable and receivable accounts, entering and classifying vendor bills and corporate purchases, guaranteeing timely payment of bills and assisting in the development and maintenance of our financial filing system.

To succeed in this role, you must be the type of person who can jump right in, be comfortable creating processes, and tweaking them when they no longer suit the business. When faced with ambiguity, your first instinct should be to think, not panic or shut down. You should love creating order from chaos (though our books, while imperfect, are hardly chaotic), and have impeccable attention to detail. Bonus points for experience in Manufacturing and CPG industries.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Record bill and expense entries in a timely and accurate manner
  • Enter Intercompany transactions in both company books
  • Prepare AP & AR aging reports
  • Reconcile credit card accounts
  • Research and help resolve issues or discrepancies found in the accounting system
  • Resolve customer and vendor payment issues quickly and accurately
  • Compile and present financial reports to management
  • Follow established standards, procedures and applicable laws
  • Provide assistance and support to company personnel as needed
  • Participate in continuing education to stay up to date on accounting practices and methods
  • Investigate and resolve vendor bill and bill payment discrepancies

What we’ll love about you:

  • A team player with a distaste for mercenaries
  • A process-oriented problem solver who can manage complex situations without panicking
  • An organized, proactive nature that loves building systems and tools
  • An emotionally mature adult who prefers to work with other emotionally mature adults
  • A willingness to admit error quickly and move immediately on to improvement
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment while focusing on individual tasks and priorities
  • Possess innovative problem solving skills and flexible mind-set
  • Self-starter, dependable and possess the ability to respond quickly and accurately on multiple priorities
  • Ability to identify issues/control weaknesses and develop and implement recommendations for resolution

What you’ll love about us:

  • We are a company, not a cult. We expect you to put in an honest day’s work and then go home to your family. Fire drills are the exception, not the norm.
  • We are a team of competent, motivated, diverse, and decent adults.
  • We offer competitive compensation, 100% paid health benefits, 401k, and a fun, relaxed office environment.
  • We are a workplace of adults who value reasoned debate over political maneuvering. We try to do the right thing and, more importantly, we try to identify and admit when we don’t.
  • We offer flexible PTO for all full-time employees. We too value health, relaxation, and spending time with friends and family.

Qualifications:

  • Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail
  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting or related field
  • 1 year of experience in an accounting department preferred
  • High level of organization and ability to maintain auditable transaction support
  • Familiarity and adherence to basic accounting practices
  • Competency in Quickbooks Online accounting software highly desirable
  • A high level of comfort preparing spreadsheets and financial reports
