Rachio is looking for a strategic-thinking Staff Accountant who is passionate about our mission, will establish herself/himself as a resource with a solid understanding of our business and industry, and has the desire and ability to grow within the organization. As a Staff Accountant, you will report to the Controller and manage A/R, A/P/ GL, fixed assets, revenue recognition, expense reports, and sales tax reporting. You will also support the Operations team from time to time, such as with order processing and fulfillment. This role requires detailed data handling/entry, critical thinking skills, and financial statement analysis experience. You will have consistent daily work as well as exposure to a broad range of other finance projects. You will work with employees, customers, suppliers, and vendors to learn the business.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure timely and accurate coding and processing of invoices for on-time payments; as well as ensuring prompt billing, collections, and cash application
- Reconcile vendor accounts and resolve disputes as a liaison between the vendor and finance
- Process and apply cash receipts and generate customer statements
- Work with customers to collect past due balances to minimize outstanding A/R
- Email and phone communications with vendors and customers
- Process bills from vendors ensuring accurate coding and validity of expense
- Perform weekly bill payments, ensuring bills are paid in a timely manner
- Ensure timely coding and processing of employee expense reports verifying compliance with company policy
- Organization and reconciliation of company credit card reports through Expensify, flagging policy violations and working with department leads to gather missing documentation
- Perform monthly reconciliations of inventory to actual stock count
- Record fixed asset additions and prepare monthly depreciation/amortization GL entries
- Responsible for regular updating of business performance metrics and aiding departments in data distillation and reporting
- Work cross-functionally to assist teams in evaluating and reporting the financial impact of key decisions
- Work with Controller to produce monthly actual-to-budget reporting by preparing variance reports using data insights to identify trends and identifying pertinent financial highlights that will enable business unit leaders to determine progress against budgets
- Learn the order processing and fulfillment process to provide support to the operations team as needed
- Process improvement projects, including technology implementations and procedure documentation, to ensure high-quality work is accomplished in the most efficient way
- Prepare monthly/quarterly and annual sales tax returns
- Prepare annual 1099’s
- Document any key processes into living versions that are updated on an ongoing basis
- Assist with ad hoc projects, models, and analysis as needed
Requirements and Skills
- 3+ years of accounting/bookkeeping experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- NetSuite, Bill.com, Expensify experience preferred
- Strong attention to detail to ensure minimal error rate
- Analytical with strong, demonstrated problem solving and critical thinking capabilities
- Exceptional verbal and written communication and collaboration skills
- Strong organizational skills that drive fast & efficient execution
- “Owner’s” attitude, including a willingness to tackle problems through to solutions and an ability to work both independently and across functions
