Travelers Haven Staff Accountant

Reports to: Senior Accountant - TH

Travelers Haven is one of the nation’s fastest growing corporate housing companies. We are searching for someone highly motivated to support a variety of accounting functions. This position will be an integral part of a close-knit team.

The Staff Accountant is responsible for preliminary accounting functions, including reconciling high-volume credit card and bank accounts, reconciling balance sheet accounts, providing support to A/P and A/R staff, and various tasks as assigned. In addition, the staff accountant is responsible for processing payroll on a semimonthly basis. This position is ideal for the self-starter that thrives in a dynamic and fast-paced environment at a growing company with the ability to work under pressure.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Reconcile bank and credit card accounts daily. Research transactions as necessary to complete reconciliations.
  • Prepare month end reconciliations for various balance sheet accounts.
  • Post journal entries and assist with month end close.
  • Process payroll and assist with payroll related items.
  • Assist with third party audits and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Prepare various ad-hoc analyses and projects.
  • Assist with implementation of controls and monitoring of effectiveness of controls.
  • Identify opportunities for automation, efficiency, and improved accuracy throughout the accounting process.
  • Maintain a tenacious and optimistic work ethic. Enjoy the hustle.

 

Skills and Qualifications:

 

Knowledge of GAAP, time management skills, deadline-oriented, attention to detail, reporting skills, confidentiality, verbal and written communication, positive attitude. Must have excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done, especially when important deadlines cause greater than normal departmental pressures.

 

  • 4-year degree in accounting is required.
  • 2+ years of experience in accounting required.
  • Excellent excel skills are required.
  • CPA not required, but preferred.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in high-growth, high-volume companies is a definite plus.
  • Experience in NetSuite is a plus.
