Summary

Overall the Treasury and Logistics Staff Accountant is a key member of the Finance Division. This position will be an integral part of the Treasury and Compliance departments and be the primary contact for members questions on tax and regulatory matters, banking support, certificates of insurance requests, and a variety of other related tasks.  In this hands-on position, the staff accountant will perform a combination of tactical day-to-day duties as well as other assigned longer-term projects.   A significant amount of time will be spent providing excellent customer service via telephone, email, chat, with volunteer leaders that have a diverse level of financial and accounting experience.

Description

  • Answer various tax or regulatory questions from members via telephone, chat, and email.
  • Monitor incoming certificate of insurance requests and forward to insurance providers for processing.
  • Provide direct banking assistance to Toastmasters club and districts in support of their mission.
  • Support the department in the filing of all tax returns to be completed accurately and filed on a timely basis.  Tax areas of focus include but are not limited to federal returns such as the 990 and 990N’s, state returns such as the 199N, income, sales & use, GST, property, and duty and other import/export related taxes.
  • Secure and track sales tax exemptions in jurisdictions where possible.
  • Periodically train finance and member services team members on tax and regulatory requirements to expand the customer service team’s ability to answer member questions.
  • Assist Toastmaster’s members and volunteer leaders with their liability insurance needs specific to venue rentals and events.
  • Monitor the status of the company’s PCI compliance and work with the internal IT department to ensure that all electronic systems not only maintain compliance but are also reported accurately to PCI partners in the industry as required.
  • Ensure the treasury and compliance area meets high customer service standards.
  • Act as a backup to the Treasury, Logistics Manager.
  • Perform other duties and special assignments as directed by management.

Requirements

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail, good communicator and a team member
  • Intermediate to Advanced skills – Microsoft Office Suite (strong Excel skills needed)
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting or finance
  • Non-profit or tax/regulatory experience a plus but not required
