We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Technical Accountant to join our team to support the continued growth Zoom is experiencing. This position will prepare, research, and analyze technical accounting matters and draft technical accounting memos to document the company’s position in accordance with U.S. GAAP.

Senior Technical accountant will possess a strong background in analyzing and interpreting accounting guidance with a subject matter expert on equity accounting and new leases standard, attention to detail, analytical skills, organizational skills, and be self-motivated with the ability to provide solutions for issues identified, operate with little instruction on day-to-day work and general instructions on new assignments. The successful candidate is a competent individual with integrity, accountability, strong interpersonal skills, team player, and excels in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Technical accounting

• Identifies, researches, and evaluates the accounting treatment for all significant and complex accounting transactions, and drafts technical accounting memorandums to document the company’s position to conclude on accounting impacts.

• Analyzes new and proposed accounting standards issued by the SEC and the FASB to determine the impact on the company and draft adoption memos on new accounting standards, as required.

• Maintains, updates, and evaluates new accounting policies and procedures in line with new pronouncements, as needed.

• Assist in preparation of journal entries for month-end close activities associated with equity accounts; prepares reconciliation of the general ledger to the supporting documents.

• Work with FP&A team to ensure completeness and accuracy of transactions for the monthly close process.

Others:

• Collaborates with various finance functions, and coordinates between departments to ensure the timely and accurate completion of key reporting activities.

• Leads internal and external audit processes as needed.

• Supports SOX compliance; mitigates and remediates SOX compliance issues identified through internal and external audit processes.

• Assists with special projects as needed, including systems implementations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and/or Finance.

• 4+ years of experience in Accounting and/or Finance roles, including Big 4 accounting firm experience.

• CPA certification or equivalent required.

• Deep technical (US GAAP) understanding and expertise.

• System savvy and ability to work with different applications and databases; experience with Oracle or other cloud-based ERP, a plus.

• Self-motivated, able to think independently, creatively, and opportunistically.

• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills with strong attention to detail.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and a great team player
