The Opportunity

Marketo has an amazing opportunity for an experienced Senior Technical Revenue Recognition Analyst to join our fast-growing software company. This position will report to our Senior Director, Technical Accounting and Revenue Recognition who will invest time in the Senior Technical Revenue Recognition Analyst's professional growth and development. The Senior Technical Revenue Recognition Analyst will help to review deals before executed and will document the key revenue accounting considerations once deals are contracted. Your team is directly engaged in the revenue recognition and will be involved in helping maintain accounting discipline during Marketo's continued growth. Among other responsibilities, the Senior Technical Revenue Recognition Analyst will need to interpret, present, and explain complex accounting issues to various internal business partners and external auditors, and must be able to develop and manage processes and controls. Additionally, this position will work with other key stakeholders from Sales, Sales Operations, Legal and Financial Planning & Analysis. The ideal candidate must possess strong analytical and communication skills. Finally, candidates must be prepared to work in a fun, fast-paced, and dynamic environment.

This position will reside in our newly opened and freshly remodeled downtown Denver office, with a "Silicon Valley" atmosphere where the business is creating a Global Center of Excellence.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Ensure revenue recognition is in accordance with company policy and SaaS revenue recognition accounting standards including ASC 605-25, ASC 605-10, ASC 985-605
• Prepare deal/contract summaries for material completed transactions 
• Review Sales Quotes and assist on deal negotiation 
• Assist on the ASC 606 implementation
• Assist with financial audits including reconciliations, support documentation, and communication with external auditors 
• Assist with month end and quarter end close activities
• Assist with managing and resolving finance cases
• Identify and assist with implementation of process improvements 
• Miscellaneous projects as necessary 

REQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE: 

• Undergraduate degree in Accounting and/or Finance or equivalent experience
• CPA License is preferred
• 4+ years' experience in public accounting with revenue experience or equivalent technical accounting industry experience
• Experience in a SAAS company preferred
• Strong analytical skills 
• Detail orientation 
• Ability to problem solve, both from an accounting and system perspective
• Ability to work independently but also be a team player 
• Able to multi-task and prioritize in fast-paced environment 
• Exceptional project and time management skills 
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience with Intacct is desired
