Position Overview:
Brilliant Earth is looking for a hands-on, self-starter to join our Finance team as a Senior Corporate Accountant. The Senior Corporate Accountant is an integral part of preparing and driving a timely month end close, developing and maintaining strong month-end close procedures, and internal controls in conformity to US GAAP. In this position, you will drive communication and implementation of these practices and procedures throughout the organization, and lead key month end close process improvement projects, with a focus on inventory and cost of goods. The Senior Corporate Accountant will also support the preparation of monthly and year end close and Financial Statement production.
The ideal candidate will have a track record of building and making process improvements within a rapidly growing finance and accounting team, thrives in a fast-paced environment and has demonstrated an ability to be effective with finite resources. In this role, you’ll be a hands-on member of the team, and be comfortable diving into the details of individual accounting and billing transactions. The Finance & Accounting teams are currently working remotely, but will return to a hybrid remote / in-office working model when our Cherry Creek office re-opens. Ideal candidates are located in / around the Denver Metro Area.
What you’ll do:
- Own portions of month-end closing process and associated reconciliations
- Drive projects to streamline monthly closing and corporate accounting / reporting processes, with a focus on inventory and related processes
- Act as a liaison between the Finance team and Sales, Operations and Marketing regarding accounting processes and procedures
- Analyze financial statements and other corporate reporting to identify business trends and opportunities for improvement to management
- Field finance & accounting inquiries from the CFO, Controller, Accounting Manager, Senior Leadership and company managers
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and financial audits, including preparation of PBCs
You’re a great fit if you have:
3-5 years’ experience in corporate accounting, including significant experience in the monthly close process, with a focus on inventory
- 1-2 years’ public accounting experience, preferably in a Big 4 firm
- Robust GAAP proficiency and experience in applying principles in practice
- Experience in closing a general ledger and/or audit, account reconciliation, JE preparation and support
- Experience in driving process improvements in month end close
- Intermediate experience with ERP systems, NetSuite a plus
- Experience working with external auditors
- Experience developing and improving internal controls
- Retail or e-commerce experience/exposure preferred
- Ability to handle long-term projects and urgent tasks seamlessly
- A focus on attention to details, accuracy and precision in tasks and projects
- Exceptional time management skills and accountability
- Ability to think critically and adapt quickly in a flexible environment
- Team player mindset with an ability to work cross functionally in a collaborative fashion
- Entrepreneurial spirit /self-starter
- Advanced Excel skills
- Interest in socially and environmentally responsible organizations and products

- BS degree in Accounting preferred (CPA preferred)
The targeted budget for this position is $75-85k. This compensation budget range may be adjusted at any time at the discretion of the company.
