About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as Senior Accountant. This is a great opportunity for a strong Staff Accountant who is ready to take the next step in their career. The successful candidate will be adaptable and thrive in a fast-paced environment. As part of a growing organization you will have the ability to participate in a broad range of accounting and reporting duties. These include recording daily transactions as well as preparing journal entries and reconciliations for moderately complex accounting matters. You will regularly work on a cross-departmental basis to research and resolve variances and improve processes. 

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Prepare moderately complex journal entries and reconciliations for accounts such as deferred revenue, revenue recognition, capitalized labor and COGS accounts.
  • Key participant in month-end close process
  • Prepare monthly trend analysis for accounts under your responsibility
  • Process weekly hourly payroll and semi-monthly payroll for salary employees. Partner with People Team on data updates, reporting and related matters.  
  • Prepare monthly bonus and commission accruals.
  • Own sales tax reporting using Avalara software.
  • Prepare schedules for audit.
  • Provide information for annual income tax engagement.
  • Develop, drive and improve internal policies & procedures documentation in your areas of responsibility 
  • Ensure compliance with appropriate internal controls.
  • Participate in cross-departmental initiatives to improve systems and efficiencies.
  • Execution of special projects as requested by Finance team leadership.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Technical accounting knowledge in areas of responsibility
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Drive for accuracy and to reconcile accounts completely; demonstrated follow-through
  • Ability to work independently with some direction
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must be self-motivated, organized and detail-oriented
  • Able to create process and procedure from scratch
  • Team-oriented attitude
  • Demonstrated ability to hold others accountable for deliverables and deadlines

Qualifications

  • Prefer candidates with a Bachelors degree in accounting or related field or commensurate experience
  • 3-5 years of experience
  • Strong knowledge of financial software systems; QuickBooks experience helpful
  • Technical proficiency with Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel skills
