The role

Outrider is seeking an experienced and credentialed accounting professional to join our growing finance department. Reporting the corporate Controller, this role is based in Golden, Colorado and is a wonderful opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology.

Responsibilities will vary between operational and financial accounting, with some additional startup responsibilities that offer the opportunity to learn in a fast-paced and engaging environment. This position has the opportunity to grow into a management role for the right candidate.    

Responsibilities

• • Support month-end and year-end close process
  • Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts payable, receivable, payroll, credit cards, and fixed assets
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts
  • Review/audit employee expense reports
  • Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results
  • Analyze financial information and summarize financial status
  • Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending
  • Provide technical support and advice to various stakeholders
  • Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
  • Participate in financial standards setting and in forecast process
  • Provide input into department’s OKR & goal setting process
  • Prepare financial statements and produce budgets according to schedule
  • Assist with sales & use tax filings, property taxes, and other tax matters
  • Work closely with outside accounting firms as it relates to audits and taxes
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP principles
  • Liaise with the finance manager to improve financial procedures
  • Perform miscellaneous administrative tasks involving insurance, benefits, vehicle registrations & rebates, and other items

Required qualifications

• • Proven experience as a financial controller, accounting manager/supervisor, chief or senior accountant
  • 3+ yrs experience in progressive accounting or transactional (A/R, A/P, Payroll) roles
  • Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
  • In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Familiarity with financial accounting statements
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software packages such as QuickBooks
  • Advanced MS Excel skills, including Vlookups and pivot tables
  • Highly organized with superior accuracy and attention to detail
  • Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
  • Deadline-driven with a can-do, get-it-done-today attitude
  • BS degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent
  • Relevant certification (e.g. CMA or CPA) or advanced degree (MBA)
  • In-depth understanding of entire MS Office suite, Gmail, and other software tools
  • Professional-level verbal and written communications skills
