We are seeking a Senior Accountant responsible for handling a number of operational functions, including: owning and maintaining monthly revenue recognition schedules in compliance with ASC 606; managing our sales tax database; timely month-end closing to include journal entry posting, detailed general ledger reconciliations and financial statement preparation; process improvement and refinement; management and execution on special projects as needed.

The ideal candidate is highly analytical and experienced in e-commerce accounting, revenue recognition, and financial statement preparation. S/he has excellent Excel skills and is comfortable creating and analyzing data files and pivot tables. S/he has excellent quantitative skills and is results-oriented, highly organized and dependable, approachable, self-motivated, and passionate about the work. S/he is confident in creating and refining new systems and managing across multiple stakeholders to get the work completed thoroughly and efficiently. S/he will be expected to work directly with the existing team in order to successfully accomplish his/her work efficiently and effectively.

We are looking for a team member who is not afraid to roll up their sleeves and is focused on delivering measurable results. Like our team, you should be customer- and brand-focused and naturally curious about new ways to help grow our new business and make our systems more efficient over time. You are comfortable working across multiple teams located in multiple geographies.

Responsibilities:

  • Heavily assist with month-end close tasks such as revenue recognition, journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations and financial statement preparation.
  • Manage sales tax database to ensure proper, timely registration and accurate sales tax filings.
  • Support Staff Accountant with A/R and A/P entries, schedules, and payments as needed.
  • Calculate commissions and run designer payments, on a bi-monthly cadence.
  • Assist with additional business analysis and execute on special projects as needed.

When you join us you'll bring:

  • A passion for what we are building, the brand, and the client experience
  • Advanced degree in Accounting; CPA or CMA preferred
  • 4+ years accounting experience. Blend of public accounting and eCommerce industry experience is highly desirable.
  • Direct accounting experience to include ASC 606 revenue recognition, variance analysis, financial statement preparation, general ledger management, reconciliations, month-end closing, A/R, A/P, and other functions.
  • Thorough understanding of GAAP, full-cycle accounting processes and internal controls
  • Excellent Excel skills and working experience with QuickBooks Online and Google tools 
  • Passion for numbers with strong analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills, highly organized and self-motivated, exceptional attention to detail, strong and proven project management capabilities and ability to multi-task across multiple complex projects
  • Past experience in a new business or startup is highly desired. Strong interest in building a company (including new processes and systems) from the ground up. Comfortable managing through ambiguity and working with limited data.

Additional Details: 

  • This is a full-time exempt position headquartered in Denver, CO.
  • Ideally this candidate is located in the Denver Metro Area, and can occasionally come to the office, but fully remote candidates will also be considered.
  • Targeted compensation range for this role: $85-100K/year, dependent upon experience.
