We are seeking a Revenue and Technical Accounting Manager to join our vibrant and growing organization.

Description Summary:

The Revenue and Technical Accounting Manager will be an integral part of the Accounting team and ensure that revenue reporting metrics and ongoing technical accounting projects are as accurate and efficient as possible.  The main emphasis for this position will be research and implementation of technical accounting topics and timely and accurate reporting of monthly financial statements, including an analytical review and summary of financial results, and ad hoc projects.  This position will report to and work closely with the Assistant Controller.

What you get to do:

Technical Accounting

  • Perform ASC 606 implementation on acquired companies’ contracts
  • Lead purchase accounting requirements that arise from M&A activity including preparation of opening balance sheets and inputs for valuation of intangible assets
  • Assist with merging and documenting accounting policies of acquired companies
  • Perform technical accounting research and memorialize in accounting position memos

Revenue Reporting

  • Lead monthly revenue meeting with management and executives
  • Maintain and streamline revenue reporting schedules that track deals from signature through delivery
  • Assist with and review monthly revenue recognition for SaaS contracts, professional services, and marketplace across all entities
  • Prepare revenue related slides and KPIs for reporting to executive team, Board of Directors, and external investors
  • Determine revenue allocation and recognition of multi-element customer contracts
  • Collaborate with FP&A team to maintain accurate revenue forecasting

Monthly Close & Reporting

  • Mentor GL accountants through monthly process and ad hoc technical queries
  • Prepare journal entries and reconciliations as needed on an ad hoc basis
  • Assist with consolidation and financial statement preparation and review, specifically monthly GAAP financial statements including Cash Flow Proof

Other

  • Document and update accounting processes, including current control structure as required, especially with a forward-looking focus on eventual internal control structure implementation
  • Assist in year-end audit
  • Assist in financial due diligence as needed
  • Prepare and analyze ad hoc requests

What you bring to Uplight:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and CPA License
  • 5-7 years relevant work experience (Public Accounting experience preferred)
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and ability to take initiative to research and learn new accounting concepts
  • Strong quantitative and analytical abilities
  • Strong attention to detail and presentation aesthetics
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work largely independently when given clear direction and to plan, organize, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong work ethic with a commitment to getting to the right answer via personal initiative, perseverance, and teamwork
