Job Description

Granicus is looking for a knowledgeable Payroll Specialist to process and manage the company’s payroll. Granicus is the largest cloud solutions provider for government and provides technology that empowers government organizations to create better lives for the people they serve.

You will be responsible for calculating wages based on hours worked and administer payments. The payroll specialist needs to be able to use payroll software with accuracy and efficiency. The ideal candidate is organized, has previous payroll processing experience, can be trusted with sensitive information and has great communications skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely for domestic and international employees. Process includes:
    • Coordinate submission and approval of time cards related to hourly employees
    • Calculation of overtime, deductions, on-call bonuses, etc.
    • Accurately capture employee benefit elections related to employee compensation
    • Prepare and execute pay orders to distribute paychecks
  • Reconcile final payroll reports to validate employee benefits have been properly processed such as, payroll taxes, 401k contributions, etc.
  • Address issues and questions regarding payroll from employees and superiors
  • Understand and file proper taxation of employer paid benefits
  • Process correct garnishment calculations and compliance
  • Perform compliances for unclaimed property payroll checks
  • Process accurate and timely year-end reporting when necessary (W-2, W-2c, etc)
  • Develop ad hoc financial and operational reporting as needed, such as, monthly executive reports

Skills & Requirements

Skills & Requirements

  • 3-5 years of payroll specialist of payroll manager experience
  • Certified Payroll Processing (CPP) or Fundamentals of Payroll (FPC) certification is preferred
  • Outstanding organizational ability with great attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills regardless of the audience
  • Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals and payroll best practices
  • Very good knowledge of legislation and regulations of the field
  • Proficient in MS Office is required and previous experience with Ultimate Software is preferred
