The Manager, Cost Strategy will function as the leader of Zayo’s off-net quoting organization. This position will be responsible for executing the vision for quoting strategies and fostering a strong support culture within the quoting analyst team. This position will enhance organizational performance through the effective management of core sourcing and cost of access activities and will collaborate cross functionally to successfully translate core business strategy into off-net strategy. The Manager, Cost Strategy will play a key role in Zayo’s overall transformation. This will include leveraging existing Zayo talent and new technologies to drive world-class speed to market on Type II sourcing.
Responsibilities
Responsible for leading the quoting organization to improve productivity, optimize resources, and support the execution of Zayo’s off-net business strategy
Drive change and ensure adherence to new quoting best practices throughout Zayo
Build Strategic Plans for management of all quoting activities
Define overall strategic direction for sourcing and cost of access
Establish targets for lead times, service levels, and volume management approach
Engage in quoting activity when required for direct quoting support, escalations, and guiding quoting approach
Develop and optimize internal team talent and properly load balance headcount to quote volumes
Oversee support analytics to support strategic decisions and coordinate initiatives
Engage in quoting tasks to balance team volumes - help fulfill requests for quotes as needed
Enable the integration of best practices across Zayo
Build and manage Zayo’s quoting talent pipeline
Lead in the support for procuring dark fiber, wavelengths, ethernet and data center services for our world-class infrastructure portfolio
Integrate the organization strategy for partnerships and vendor relationships into quoting processes
Own records documentation on processes and analytics for the full scope of the quoting function
Develop market and competitive expertise across the team
Engage in commercial negotiations and contract database management
Participate in vendor performance assessments - own the assessment of pre-sales quoting performance
Contribute to optimization and cost mitigation efforts to reduce costs in the business
Produce excellent data to formulate decisions and manage performance; the individual must incorporate data management and systems expertise into their day-to-day
Contribute to global shared documentation and intelligence gathering
Provides ad hoc support to solve complex problems
Monthly and quarterly operating reviews with management
Other financial and operational analysis and duties as needed
Requires being a liaison for quoting escalations both internally and externally
Qualifications
5 years minimum of relevant industry experience in strategic sourcing, supply chain management and vendor relationship management
Bachelor’s degree required; Business, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Finance or related field
Certifications in disciplines such as procurement, contract review and management or Operational Planning preferred
Leadership experience preferred
Line experience and training with a major firm with a sourcing practice preferred
Strong track record of developing and implementing a strategic plan resulting in significant operational benefits for the organization.
Innovative track record of driving operational improvements (design and build) to achieve business growth and improve productivity
Specific experience and thought leadership in maximizing productivity through the use of innovative and progressive strategic sourcing methods
Experience working collaboratively with leadership of a matrixed, global organization.
Proven results in managing and developing talent
Prefer experience in Telecom or Tech procurement
Excellent project management skills to manage project development and execution across multiple service providers and site locations
Motivated, high-energy and self-starter business mindset; proven change agent with excellent facilitation and problem-solving skills
Cross-functional teams experience and capabilities
Strong interpersonal and vendor management skills
Negotiation skills
Base Salary Range-$75,200-$94,000
